Charlotte suddenly felt faint. She looked at Mia, her eyes wide and her jaw hanging open for several seconds before she asked "you can speak Italian?" Mia laughed before replying "a little bit, yes." She loved it when Charlotte was surprised, the facial expression she made was so cute, although in fairness every facial expression she made was adorable. Charlotte continued "maybe you can teach me some, what did that mean?" Mia smirked and replied "I said that you should be dressed in diamonds."

Mia led Charlotte over to the first boutique, giggling slightly as the brunettes eyes glazed over in amazement. Once they were inside the red head watched as Charlotte was instantly drawn to the section filled with beautiful green and blue toned dresses. After looking for a little while, Charlotte had chosen a few different options so she headed over to the changing rooms, leaving Mia to wait with anticipation. As she modelled various gowns for Mia the red head wondered how she'd ever got so lucky. Eventually, Charlotte emerged from behind the curtain wearing a sparkling sea green floor length gown with an off the shoulder neckline. The brunette had never looked more beautiful and for the first time since they'd met, Mia was speechless. After several seconds she muttered "bella..."

Charlotte giggled in response, she knew what that meant at least. Once she'd chosen a pair of silver heels, Mia asked her to wait outside while she paid, which Charlotte dutifully did. Afterwards, as they wandered back towards their apartment they passed a beautiful and ornate fountain. Mia handed a little coin to Charlotte before saying "Esprimi un desiderio...make a wish." The childlike wonder that Charlotte still possessed was one of Mia's favourites things about her girlfriend and as she watched her close her eyes and choose her wish, she couldn't help but laugh a little.

Once they'd eaten their dinner they began to get ready for the opera. Charlotte was so excited so she channelled her energy into singing to herself as she curled her hair. Once she was done she tied her hair into a high ponytail, her curls sitting on her shoulders and framing her face perfectly. She put her dress on but she needed Mia to zip it up for her, so she called out to her. Mia emerged from the bathroom wearing a long black gown with a slit down the side and black heels. She'd pinned half of her hair up and she was wearing delicate silver droplet earrings. Charlottes breath caught in her throat as she watched Mia approaching her, looking like an angel. Well, perhaps a fallen angel was more appropriate. "Can you zip my dress up for me?" Charlotte stuttered. Mia smiled and nodded before placing her hand on Charlottes waist and encouraging her to turn around. "I have something for you" Mia whispered directly into the brunettes ear, taking her by surprise.

Charlotte turned to face the red head just as she opened her hand to reveal a brooch shaped like a rose. It was black and silver and it was clearly an antique. She carefully pinned it onto Charlottes dress and whispered "La mia piccola rosa nera...my little black rose."

As they approached the opera house the sight before them took Charlottes breath away. The sun was just beginning to set and the canals were glowing with a golden hue. Mia took her hand and led her inside and as they rounded the corner the stage came into view. The only light came from the flickering candles and oil lamps that were littered throughout the venue. Once they'd taken their seats Charlotte could feel Mia's eyes watching her intently. She decided to let her look for a little longer while Charlotte watched the stage hands preparing.

Watching as candlelight danced across Charlottes face and seeing the way it made her dress sparkle, Mia was transported back to the night she'd found Charlotte crying and sat all alone in a bar. The moment she'd sat down and looked into the brunettes big blue eyes, she knew that she loved her. She still hadn't been sure if she truly deserved Charlotte, but she simply couldn't let her go. As more people entered the venue and took their seats, Charlotte turned to Mia and smiled before saying "I feel like I'm dreaming." As the orchestra began to play, Mia placed her hand on Charlottes lower back and smiled in response. She would dedicate the rest of her life to making Charlottes dreams come true, as long as the brunette would let her.

She couldn't wait to tell her about the next surprise.
