Charlotte couldn't help but giggle when Mia insisted on helping her into the gondola. The red head knew how clumsy her girlfriend was and the last thing she wanted was Charlotte tumbling down into the water. The Gondolier watched in amusement as Mia fussed over the brunette, only settling once Charlotte was safely sat in her seat. "Pronto?" The Gondolier was looking at the couple expectantly. Satisfied that Charlotte was safe, Mia nodded and as the gondola started to move she placed her hand on Charlottes thigh.

For a little while the two women sat in silence watching the world around them. Suddenly, Charlotte said "Mia?" The red head turned to look into her girlfriend's eyes, expecting to find wondrous joy waiting behind them. She could tell immediately that Charlotte was worried however and her heart sank immediately. "What's wrong sweetheart?" Mia waited patiently as Charlotte looked away, clearly trying to gather her thoughts. "This whole trip has been so beautiful Mia. I can't tell you how grateful I am, nobodies ever treated me the way that you do. Sometimes I worry that I'm not good enough for you, I feel like I don't deserve this."

Mia's eyes widened in shock as she processed Charlottes words. It had never occurred to her that the brunette would ever worry about being good enough, she was perfect. Mia placed her hand on Charlottes cheek and said "sweetheart you deserve the world, the sun, the moon, the stars, the whole sky. For so many years I was trapped in a loveless relationship. Nobody has ever loved me for me, everything has always been transactional. You've brought me back to life Charlotte and you've made my life worth living again. I'll never stop spoiling you and I need you to know how much you deserve everything good in this world."

The brunette felt tears forming behind her eyes as she realised just how much she meant to Mia. Behind her tough exterior, the red head was so gentle and loving and just trying to imagine how lonely she'd been for so long was tearing Charlottes heart apart. She kissed Mia's forehead lightly and whispered "you deserve that too, you know that don't you?" The red head smiled before quietly replying "I do now." The gondola was approaching a bridge and just as they were about to move underneath it, Charlottes face lit up and she started to wave. Mia turned her head, feeling confused but when she saw who Charlotte was waving at she couldn't help but smile. A little girl was waving frantically at the brunette, a huge grin plastered all over her face. Even from afar, children loved Charlotte.

Once Mia had ensured her girlfriend's safe return to land, she once again caught her hand in hers. As they walked along the canal Mia told Charlotte all about Venice, explaining that all the little islands connected by bridges and walkways were what the city was comprised of. As Charlotte watched the sunlight dancing on the water she remarked "the colour of the water is so beautiful." Immediately Mia replied "Proprio come i tuoi occhi." The brunette pouted slightly "Amelia. You know I don't know what that means." The red head laughed "sorry sweetheart. I said, just like your eyes."

Just as Charlotte was about to reply, she noticed a lady walking towards them. She had beautiful long dark hair and she was smiling at the couple as she approached. Once she'd reached them she asked "you two are a couple?" Mia nodded, unsure where this exchange was going. The lady gestured at Charlotte and said "she's beautiful. You both are. What are your names?" Charlotte replied this time "I'm Charlotte and this is Mia." The lady nodded slightly before saying "perfect, you two together, it was written in the stars." Just as she turned to leave, Charlotte asked "what's your name?" Turning back, the lady smiled once again as she replied "Louisiana." As the couple watched her walk away, they looked at each other and beamed. Who were they to argue, they were meant to be and everyone could see it.

They wandered for a little while longer until the sun began to set. They both knew their time together was running out and although they'd be together again soon, a slight feeling of sadness was settling within their hearts. Mia cleared her throat and turned to Charlotte, wrapping her arm around her waist. They needed to make the most of the time they had left.

"Sweetheart, I think it's time for dinner."
