Chapter 3: You Were Beautiful

Full moons had always been horrible for Remus, but at some point he stopped dreading them as much. Sirius was the sun to his moon, when he walked into a room all he could do was smile. Remus adored him with every cell in his scared body. It was a very early morning after a full moon, Pads had been there in his animagus form all night to make sure that Remus was safe. Once Remus transformed back into his human form Siri also did. "Oh, darling." Sirius said, worried and pulling Remus close. He ran his hand through his curls and kissed his cheek, he always brought his boyfriend an extra jumper and a soft blanket. He helped Remus bandage his wounds before putting his jumper on and pulling a blanket over them. He made sure that Remus was comfortable and felt safe. Remus interrupted the silence and said "Was I scary?" Sirius stopped what he was doing and took his face into his hands lovingly and said, "You were beautiful, you could never be scary, not to me. As long as I love you, you can never scare me. I will always love you, darling." He gently kissed Remus and smiled at him. They both fell asleep and woke up late the next morning. Sirius watched as Remus' eyes slowly opened and whispered, "Morning, Moony." Remus looked up at him and smiled weakly. "We need to get you to the infirmary." Sirius insisted.

Later on in the day all of the boys were sitting with Remus talking. Sirius said he had a surprise and took out three bars of the werewolf's favorite chocolate. Remus smiled at Sirius and said, "You know me too well, Pads." Sirius responded and said, "As your boyfriend it's a part of my duties."

Sirius was and always had been madly in love with Remus. From the moment he saw him boarding the train in his jumper that was far too large for him, his unkempt curls, his slightly torn up trousers. He loved everything about him. He was never exactly sure why he was so drawn to Moony, but he knew that for some reason he had a different kind of significance than his other friends. That first day when he saw him on the train he knew he had to say something to him. Sirius marched up to him proudly, stuck out his hand and said, "Hello, my name is Sirius Black." Remus didn't know how to react, and he hesitated before shaking his hand and responding shyly with, "Hello, Sirius, I'm Remus, Remus Lupin." Padfoot noticed that he was nervous and gave him a welcoming smile. "Would you like to sit with me on the train? I haven't made any friends yet. Well if you don't have anyone to accompany you of course." Sirius asked. Remus nodded quickly after Sirius asked, somehow knowing that he could trust the other young boy. As they walked down the narrow train, two lads caught their eye, which they would quickly learn were James Potter and Peter Petigrew. "Do you have any more room in this compartment?" Padfoot asked. Young James looked up and nodded. Remus sat seated next to Wormtail, and Siri sat next to prongs. "Hi, I'm Peter." he put up his hand for Remus to shake, and smiled. "Remus, it's nice to meet you." "Oh, and this is James." Peter said, pointing towards James. Prongs waved at Moony and gave him a comforting smile. "I'm Remus." As they continued to get to know each other the snack trolly started to make its way around the train. "Anything from the trolly?" an older woman said. "A chocolate frog, please." Remus quietly said. "That'll be three sickles." Remus handed her the currency and took the chocolate. At that moment Sirius made a mental note that the other boy liked chocolate, he didn't know why he thought he would want to know that, but he did.

_______

As the other boys started to leave the infirmary for dinner in the great hall, Sirius stayed and held Remus' hand while he slept. As he sat next to his boyfriend, he listened to his heartbeat in the silent room, and took in the scent of cigarettes that lingered on his jumper. As time passed by Remus began to wake up, he still had a slight fever so when he woke up Sirius asked how he was feeling. Padfoot rubbed the back of Moony's head as he sat now on the edge of the bed. "I'll be right back moons." he said before kissing the top of his head and walking over to Madam Pomfrey. "How long do you think it will take him to heal?" Sirius questioned. "With his wounds this bad, at least another night." She knew what Sirius was about to ask and tried to think of a proper answer. "Would it be alright if I stayed with him for the night? He gets lonely especially when he has to stay longer than a night." He smiled lightly to try and push her to let him. She hesitated before saying, "Alright... but just this time." He smiled widely and said, "Thank you so much." She smiled warmly as she watched him walk away. Sirius walked back over to Remus and sat at the edge of the bed. As the werewolf saw him sit on the edge of the bed he moved over to make room on the bed for him, and patted to get him to lay down with him. Sirius smiled at him and had Remus rest on his chest. "How bad was it?" Remus asked. "It was worse than usual, but you were beautiful." Siri said. "You don't have to lie to me." Remus said while looking up at him. "I'm not, I would never lie to you, I love you." "I love you too." Remus smiled lightly and kissed him. "I never want to lose you." Sirius whispered. They both fell asleep, while holding each other.
