Once they left, Will had a VERY hectic few hours.
After they had left the Mansion, he had been insanely busy fixing damages, helping shaken citizens, and getting things sorted out with the police force (who had been completely unhelpful, thanks!). Finally, after a lot of explanations and damage control, things seemed to be, well, normal enough.
Then he had to go home. Nico had come with him - half out of moral support for when Will had to face his mom, and half because they didn't really want to separate. Facing his mom had been easier than Will had expected. He'd thought she would be at least been a little mad about all the danger he had put himself in, but her relief for his safety far overshadowed any anger. Meaning his reunion with her mostly consisted of mutual tears for twenty minutes.
After his very emotional moment with his mom, Will steadied himself and realized Nico had been standing on the sidelines the entire time, looking a bit awkward. So after promising his mom probably a thousand times that they would be safe and that Will would be home right away, he walked Nico back to his apartment.
Will got a little bit of a taste of his own medicine when he witnessed Nico's reunion with Sally. Will had never met Sally before, but he instantly had a high opinion of her when she wrapped Nico in a hug the second he walked in the door and made him swear to never put himself in danger like that again. If she acted that way with a kid she had just sort of adopted off the street, Will knew she was a good person.
Will also got the pleasure of meeting (most of) the rest of Nico's sort-of family - Sally's husband, Paul, and her toddler daughter, Estelle. Sally's oldest son, Percy, was still away at college, but Will figured he would like him just as much as he liked the rest of the family.
After introductions were done, Will was planning on leaving, but Nico shook his head and wordlessly pulled him into his room. Which is where he found himself now.
Nico kicked the door shut behind them with his heel. "Sorry about the mess."
Will glanced around the room, which was hardly messy at all, and rolled his eyes. "Oh, yeah. It's absolutely disgusting in here."
"Shut up."
Will laughed slightly and glanced around Nico's room. It didn't seem very him, all things considered. Will gestured to a poster on the wall. "The Little Mermaid?"
Nico flushed. "It's not mine. This is Sally's son's room. I haven't exactly redecorated."
Will raised an eyebrow. "Isn't he like, nineteen? Why The Little Mermaid?"
"Why not?"
"Fair."
Nico smiled at that and gestured for Will to come sit down on his bed, next to where he was sitting. Will obliged, and instantly leaned into Nico's shoulder. Nico didn't exactly pull away, but he didn't lean back. He seemed mentally preoccupied.
"So..." Nico said slowly.
"So." Will replied.
"I guess I wanted to talk to you."
"About?"
"Everything? Nothing? I dunno, Will." Nico sighed.
Will blinked. "I'm not really understanding what you're getting at."
Nico waved his hands. "Just- my life has been...crazy. I've been scared of the Mansion, of Nyx, for so long."
"Yeah?"
"And now that's just...gone. It's over."
Will frowned. "You're saying that like it's bad."
"No! No no no." Nico said hastily. "It's more...I'm just not sure what to do now. Now that I don't have to live my life in constant fear of the Mansion."
