Chapter 6 : Potions

"Aanhin mo ba ang mga potions? Mahal kaya 'yon."

Luci opened the door for me when we reached the only potion store in this town. We're kids, of course I immediately expected that adults here will ask where we are heading.

At nangyari nga iyon kanina habang nasa daanan kami naglalakad papunta dito, Luci did all the talk.

When we entered I was in awe and deep astonishment when I saw the full view inside. The shop was really old, I can tell. But the potions being displayed around are all brand new! It's all high potions! I can tell based on appearance. There are shelves at each corner, mga ingredients yata ang mga nakalagay tapos sa gitna naman ay mga nagsisihabaang lamesa na at doon nakalagay ang mga kahon na may mga potions.

I and Luci went to the counter, kung saan nakatayo ang isang matandang lalaki at sa likod niya ay mga boteng may lamang preserved body parts ng mga halimaw.

"Ohoo, hindi ito ang parke mga bata."

"No, I'm here to see potions. Will you give me your permission to look around?" I smiled at him.

He only stared at me with his wrinkled face. Ang kaninang ngiti nito sa amin ay nawala na.

"Ano'ng ginagawa ng isang noble kagaya mo dito sa bayan ng mga mabababang uri?"

I secretly grit my teeth, I still forced a smile. "Interesado ako sa Alchemy, gusto kong makakita ng mga tunay na potions." the old man only raised his brows.

Judging from his stare and face he's obviously doubting wether I am interested in alchemy or not.

He sighed and get something from his back, it's one of the jars. He put it on the table. "Do you know what is this?"

He's testing me?

I stared at the preserved jar and recalled the books I have read. It's a blue liquid with a horn. "That's small antlers, you can acquire them from looting a dead deer or elk."

Tinitigan nito ako nang masama kaya kumunot ang noo ko. I thought he will say something but he grab another jar and presented it to me. "What about this?"

Hindi pa rin siya naniniwala na interesado ako sa alchemy?

Binusisi ko ng tingin ang bote at kumunot ang noo ko dahil ang laman niyon ay isang uri ng bulakak. It's purple in color.

That's a rare ingredient.

"That's deathbell, you can only locate them growing on the top of corpses where unfortunate death have occured. They're used to create life potions, black potions, and lethal poisons. It's an A rank type of plant and rarity." I boosted some informations that I know in that plant.

The old man laughed. "You surely made your research. All correct, now see the potions around. What a smart kid, you might have a future with alchemy." natutuwang sabi nito sa akin.

Tuluyan ng nawala ang masungit at mabigat nitong aura na binibigay sa akin. He look amused and happy right now that's why I smiled. "Yes, I love alchemy. We have different plants in our house." nakangiting sambit ko sa kaniya.

Tuluyan na akong umalis sa harapan niya para maglibot-libot sa shop niya.

"Ano'ng pinag-uusapan niyo kanina?"

Ngayon ko lang naalala na kasama ko pala si Buknoy, I meant Luci. Buti na lang nagtanong siya sa akin.

"Plants, why?"

"Talaga? Eh bakit may mga death death kayong binabanggit. Hindi ko maintindihan ang pinagsasabi niyo kanina."

"Just...just come with me." napailing ako dahil kating-kati na ang kamay kong hampasin ang batang ito.
