"Can we get, can we get better? Existing for you is the present"

" Mommy! " she ran to the familiar figure she saw and happily hugged the person. Feeling the warmth from the hug she never felt it since she was a kid.
"Happy birthday my little angel! " She greeted her daughter as she hugged her tighter but didn't last long as they both parted from the hug. Jiyeon eyes filled with tears as her mother became worried and wiped her tears away. "Why are you crying? It's your birthday. "
"But it was also your death anniversary." The mother just pulled her daughter in her arms and immediately wiped her tears away. She doesn't want to let her daughter know she cried. It will make her upset more.
"This is our both day! You should celebrate." The mother excitedly told. Jiyeon went quiet for a moment. "How can I celebrate? Knowing you are not there? "
She asked as the mother went quiet looking upon her daughter who was starting to form tears from the corner of her eyes. The mother pulled back her daughter to sit on the white ground as she slowly gently caressed her daughter's hair. "I was right here. I am always beside you. "
Jiyeon leans her head on her mother's shoulder while she continues caressing her hair. "It's been years since you died sacrificing your life to me. I'm still waiting for you mommy. "
"I'll always sacrifice everything for you, my angel. Even giving me another chance to live I'll still sacrifice myself for you. Nothing is going to change." Her mother uttered as Jiyeon couldn't help but to shed a single tear. If she will be given a chance... She still sacrifices herself means if she still lives, She's willing to give her the eyes for her to see.
"Thank you, Mommy. I love you so much. " She said feeling her mother's warm embrace.
"Your dad has been staying in my grave again. You should bring him back home now and tell him I said so. " Jiyeon parted from the hug and looked into her mother's eyes. There's no doubt where she gets her eyes.
"I'm sorry, my angel... Mommy needs to go," she whispered as everything went black in Jiyeon's eyes.
"Mommy! " She woke up from her dreams as she caught her breath as if she was being chased. Jiyeon went silent for a moment remembering what her mother just said. She felt it would be the last time and said her last goodbye.
She reached for her phone under her pillow looking at the clock. 1:00 am. Her mind suddenly decided to get up from her bed and walk towards the place where Changmin introduced her to her. She didn't mind being in danger during that time, she was really desperate to breathe air. When she closed the door behind her, she could see that no one was passing by on the road made her relieved that she was safe walking alone at this time.
When she reached the place, she was greeted by the cold breeze, her hair was dancing with the winds, and for a moment, it made her find the peace of mind she needed. She watch the city lights with her eyes. "What if you didn't die? Will Dad be so happy everyday? "
Maybe Dad will never stay on your grave and he'll be happy always. Because you're there, you're there to guide us. Jaehyun would never leave the house every time he had the chance and I would never be this lonely because I knew you'd be there. Sadly... All of those are meant to be as my wish. She thought.
"I knew it, I'll find you here. " Jiyeon flinched a bit at the voice she heard. She looked behind her only to see Changmin with a smile and his pajama. Her eyes lit up knowing she didn't have to be alone. She fixed her glasses and smile.
"Why are you here? " Jiyeon asked while Changmin slowly made his way to sit beside her. "I just see you leaving your house and Should I be the one to ask you that? What are doing here at this time? It's not safe for you to wander around especially since you are a girl."
Jiyeon focused her eyes on the view in front of of her. "I can't sleep, and my feet bring me here so I guess why not breathe some air? "
"You should have called me to accompany you here. " He said "What's bothering you? Any reason why you can't sleep? "
"It was my mommy's death anniversary today, " She responded "Every time her death anniversary comes, I always have nightmares and dreams about her giving birth to me. She always said goodbye and told me to pick up Dad from her grave. "
But this time... It feels different. She never stayed that long and I felt it was the last I'd be able to see her. " She bowed down her head, trying her best not to think about it but it was just too much for her. "I missed her. "
Changmin gently reached for her head and slowly leaned her head on his shoulder. Jiyeon closed her eyes as she felt comfortable with him but knowing that she'd be just forever a friend in his eyes somehow made her sad.
"Happy birthday Jiyeon. " Changmin greeted that making the girl look at him. "Youngchae once told me and I never forget it. "
They fell into silence once again as they were busy admiring the stars and the view. Jiyeon hugged her knees as she had a smile plastered on her lips. But it didn't last long when Changmin broke the silence between them.
"Jiyeon... "
"Hm? "
"Do you remember about the girl from the story? " Jiyeon just nodded. "Of course, Fanfiction lover. " Inside of her heart She doesn't have any plan in hearing the girl again. She just can't stand hearing him say the girl he likes while she's breaking inside.
"I thought I didn't have any chance to see the girl. I thought she would only stay as the girl from the story. But faith gives me a chance to meet her. " Jiyeon quickly looked at him, She could feel the happiness and love in her eyes which she had never seen with her.
"Really?? You finally saw her! I'm happy for you. " she exclaimed happily. But breaking secretly.
"Youngchae is the one who tells me the story, and the story is about you, Jiyeon. " He confessed.
Jiyeon was shocked to hear his words. Her mind almost didn't function well as she was having a hard time processing everything. Tho it wasn't long but it was enough to make her mind went chaos.
"Jiyeon... I love you. " He sincerely confessed.
Jiyeon became more speechless in front of him. She was scared he might get the wrong idea. She likes him too, Who wouldn't??? But she was just shocked to respond because she thought she'd never cross the line and she'd be just on the line as one of his friends.
"Can I court you? " He asked.
Another wave of chaotic things from her mind happens. She's just happy. She accepted her fate that he loved him since then. There's no use not answering him honestly because in the first place. She fell for him first.
"I know it was out of sudden, Sorry I'll give you time-"
"Yes!"
"What? "
"I said yes! I'm allowing you to court me. " Changmin eyes widened as he suddenly stood up in happiness. He looks like a kid who agrees to buy him the toys he wants. "AHH ARE YOU HEARING THIS YOUNGCHAE?! SHE AGREED! SHE SAID YES! "
Jiyeon couldn't help but laugh at his cuteness. She really did love him. She fell for him many times she just didn't admit it sooner. She wished this night would never end and all the things that happened replay continuously in her dreams. Because this moment was forever engraved inside her mind and heart.
She'll never forget the way his smile even means with black sight.
