 2 hours later

The moon was still shining its dim light onto the both of you as you continued to look around for any more places to get down the fort. Considering that you and Blaidd are trapped on the roof the same way the soldiers were, you feel like you might become one of them as well. The only difference was that Blaidd destroyed the ladder to the main floor with his Huge ice boulder that killed those horrifying bats. You can't blame him per se, but it still lingered in the back of your head.

Y/N: "For a fortified castle, whoever made the layout to the actual entrances and exits did a pretty shitty job only adding one way."

You were lying on the ground playing with your katana, spinning it in circles as you looked at the large crescent moon.

Blaidd looked around the map Ranni gave him that laid out Fort Faroth and its floors.

Blaidd: "This doesn't make sense, there are 3 floors, but we could only access 2 of them.

Y/N: "You think they forgot to build the second floor?

Blaidd: "They may be stupid, but not completely out of their minds"

Y/N: "Pfft, Whatever you say."

The wolf had been looking for anything we could find for an entrance. So far there was nothing but dead bodies and leftover supplies of bows and arrows. Nothing that we would use. You on the other hand decided to relax in the process and heal Blaidd of any bruises he might have received from earlier. He was adamant about being fine, but he melted into you once you could sit him down for a moment. Part of you did want to feel him again...respectfully of course. Considering his reaction, he seemed more...interested. You even offered a self-made warming stone, but declined and preferred you would do the healing instead. Said, "It feels better". You felt prideful but also a bit surprised by his subtle suggestion.

You get up and stretch yourself out, feeling bored already. It's time you helped Blaidd on the way down, who knows if reinforcements are on their way. You decide to walk around and examine the map along with Blaidd. The blueprints show a second floor beneath you two, but from what you see, there is no way to get to them.

Y/N: "That's...stupid, it's supposed to be right here, but it's all boarded up."

Walking over to the rotting planks you inspected when you first arrived, you press down on them. The wood creaks and bends a bit.

Blaidd: "That is true, we should be careful not to activate anything else."

The wolf keeps looking at the map, angling it differently to figure out this bizarre setup.

Meanwhile, you thought it was a great idea to walk on top of the rotting wood, walking around on it. It felt sturdy enough to stand on, but the wood differs from the rest of the castle. Walking off of it you can safely say you figured it out.

Y/N: "Hey Blaidd, can you come here for a second."

Blaidd: "Did you find something?"

Y/N: "Yup, could you swing your sword and break this" You point down toward the wood.

Blaidd: "Alright"

Blaidd lifts his great sword with one fell swoop, bringing it down onto the ground, and shattering it into different pieces. A few chunks of wood fly around you from the impact, but the second floor is revealed once everything settles down.

Y/N: "Ta-da"

Blaidd: "A fairly good job sunshine"
