It was the height of summer, the hottest of the four temperate seasons. Anny stood under the bridge, her fluttering eyelashes, pointed nose, and full, rounded pink lips complementing her beauty. Her red mini skirt and white crop top accentuated her attractive figure, turning heads as she waited.
"I'll definitely teach this girl a lesson for making me wait in this scorching sun," Anny murmured, covering her fair, oval face.
As if Aila heard her, she came running, her long, fluffy hair blown by the breeze, making her look fragile. She caught her breath and apologized, "Sorry, I had to stop somewhere. You know how my stepmother and dad are - they don't care if I drop dead, as long as I work myself to death." She paused, then added, "Let's leave that aside. Hope you haven't been standing for too long."
"It's okay, dear. Don't think too much," Anny replied, her voice laced with a mischievous tone. "You owe me something for keeping me waiting. My jade-like skin is tanned."
Aila chuckled. "Hmmm, Madam Jade, how long have you been standing here that your skin has gotten tanned? I'm craving some snacks. Let's eat, babe!"
Anny consented, and they sauntered along, humming like birds.
They arrived at a snack shop, where a long line awaited them. Aila suggested going home, but Anny insisted on waiting. "Since we're here, let's just wait. Besides, anything for my baby."
After a lengthy wait, they finally got their turn and bought some snacks and juice. They sat in the shop, munching on their treats.
Just then, a voice came from behind. "Tsk, tsk, tsk... I didn't know the mighty Anny Hansley could stoop so low as to come to a snack shop. I thought you only ate healthy foods."
Aila turned, and the speaker added, "Oh, what a bond! Your so-called friend is here. I thought so - how could the Anny I know eat this? It turns out you were influenced by her. No big deal, though, since she's been following you like a dog. You should reward her a little."
Anny slammed her hand on the table, her eyes blazing. "Percy, I've tolerated your rubbish behavior in school, but that doesn't give you the right to insult my friend whenever you see her. Did you forget how you were expelled? And let me remind you - Aila is neither my lackey nor my follower. She's my best friend, so get that straight into your skull!"
Percy trembled, her composure shaken, but she tried to maintain her cool. "Hmmm, do you think she considers you her best fri..." Before she could finish, Anny flared up. "Don't try to sow discord here! If you have nothing better to do, I recommend cleaning the toilets around and sweeping floors. It's a form of volunteering too, so you won't be useless. So, Madam, get the hell out of here before I unleash my fury on you!"
Percy ran out, giving them the middle finger and mouthing, "We'll meet soon."
Percy had attended Anny and Aila's school but was expelled for slapping Aila, who was Anny's bottom line. Percy hated Anny without reason, fueled by envy and resentment.
As Anny and Aila walked out of the snack shop, chatting, they didn't notice a pair of green eyes watching their every moves........
