A/N: There's an external link tacked on to the end of this chapter that leads to a playlist I created for this story! Enjoy <3
The rest of your first night felt like a grayed-out blur. You had to explain to Springtrap that you had only intended on inspecting the animatronics at first, so you didn't bring any tools or equipment with you. And you highly doubt that Adam just had some lying around.
You could tell that it aggravated him that he had to wait.
I just hope he doesn't lose patience too quickly, you thought to yourself. Especially since I have no clue how long it'll take for the actuators to ship once Adam actually orders them.
Springtrap followed you around, never giving you even so much as a breath of alone time. The silence between the two of you was unbearable to deal with once you had returned to sitting in the office.
"Y'know, you don't have to worry about following me around," you stated, attempting to ease the tension. "I kinda need this job so I don't have any intention of fleeing."
Why not though? Any sane person in my position would have ran for the hills the moment they saw an opening to do so.
And you did see an opening. Once you were able to leave the dark room that you had found Springtrap in, you noticed just how slow moving the rabbit was. It was as though every step was nearly impossible for him to make. You even caught yourself stopping and waiting for him every few seconds. You could have easily sprinted away from him without any worry of him catching up to you. But you didn't, and now you're sitting in the office with his body blocking off the only doorway that you could exit through.
"And?" He finally said, breaking you from your thoughts. "Why should I trust your word?"
Trust? Funny, coming from a serial killer.
"I understand why you wouldn't, but you're going to have to let me leave eventually or else people will get suspicious. Plus, I'll have to leave in order to get the tools necessary to repair you."
"So you've said already."
The venom in his voice pissed you off more than you wanted it to.
"What do you not get," you snapped. He seemed surprised by your tone. "I get that you think I'll run off the moment I get the chance, but I, unfortunately, need this job because no other place in my career field is willing to hire me without some kind of working experience. And trust me, I hate this," you gestured between yourself and the animatronic, "Probably more than you do because you just nearly killed me a moment ago. But I'm at least willing to put up with you if it means getting paid and being able to move on after all this is said and done. So why don't you just trust me so this will be easier for both of us?"
You could feel how out of breath you were after your rant, but it felt good to be able to vent your frustrations even if it was towards a run-down rabbit animatronic.
A beat of silence caused your stomach to sink when you realized that you fucked up. If Springtrap was so quick to anger but from you inspecting him, why did you think it would be a good idea to argue with him? Before you could try to mend the situation with an apology however, he surprised you.
"It's been a while since I've been around people."
He said it in a hushed tone. Almost as if he didn't want to admit something like that to you.
Adam did mention that they had found Springtrap recently. Locked away somewhere. Who knows how long he was stuck by himself like that.
The idea of it alone made you uncomfortable. You looked away from him and thought about whether you should ask what you were thinking about asking.
