"So it's true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love."
- E.A. Bucchianeri

Light shines through the gaps between the shutters and casts a warm hue across Ayla's body. The girl winces in pain as she opens her eyes, immediately needing to screw them shut as the light is too bright to bear. "Hey." A soft voice says. "Don't strain yourself, it'll only make it worse." Ayla turns her head to see Maggie by her bedside, wiping her sweaty face with a cold washcloth.

"What..." Ayla slurs. "What happened?" She rakes her mind to try and remember what on earth caused this pounding headache and aching muscles but nothing comes back to her.

Maggie's eyes grow sad for a moment and a small frown crosses her lips but she quickly hides it with a polite smile. "Best not to worry about that right now." The brunette continues her soothing strokes across Ayla's forehead.

Ayla looks around the room hazily. She desperately wants to see the familiar face she's come to cherish so dearly but it's nowhere to be found. "Where's Carl?" She asks.

"He was here all last night and all this morning. He left about ten minutes ago to talk to his mum about something." Maggie reassures.

Ayla nods slowly and then instantly flinches at the movement. Suddenly, loud voices can be heard throughout the house. Maggie turns to face the door worriedly. "What's going on?" Ayla says with alarm. "There's something you're not telling me."

Maggie rotates around to face her again, this time sporting an expression of discomfort. "It's nothing serious." She says calmingly. "It's just, tensions are a little high right now because..." She pauses and says her next words slowly. "...Randall is missing."

"What?"

"As I said," The anxiety Maggie is feeling is clearly shown on her face. "It's nothing to worry about. Glenn, Daryl, Rick, and Shane are out there right now, they'll find him soon enough..."

Maggie continues to ramble in an attempt to ease her worries but Ayla tunes her out as she focuses on her previous words. Rick and Shane are out there right now. Together. There's something not right about that but she can't quite pinpoint what. Ayla tries to recall every bit of information she's ever collected about to two men to see if it will help solve her puzzle.

Rick is Carl's dad. Shane is Rick's friend. If they're friends then why is it a problem that they're together? C'mon Ayla, think.

Rick's wife is Lori. Shane also likes Lori. They've argued about that before. Who else has Shane argued with? Rick, myself, Dale, Lori- wait. Dale. Ayla can feel herself getting closer to whatever the problem is.
