Chapter 13: Be My Therapist

I was looking for Mom, she should be home by now and it was getting late as well. I could guess things at hospital too would've been going crazy after what happened today. But thankfully I found her in her room only, though she was busy in some video call it seemed. She looked up at me from her laptop and told me to wait for a minute which I nodded that it's okay.

She came up to me after hanging up the call. She came and asked about Arushi, “How's Arushi doing?”

“Currently sleeping. It was a full blow to her when she had just started taking steps towards healing. The tries, everything is just wasted now”, I twisted my upper lip not knowing what's going to happen now. “It looks worse than before. Like she took a step but went two steps backwards”

“She'll be fine, you're here with her. I believe you'll handle her just fine”, she rubbed my arms assuringly and I wanted that so bad. Handling Arushi when she's all broken and crying, it doesn't go easy on me as well.

“When did you come back?”, I asked her. “It's been a while, maybe an hour or two”

“What was uncle saying?”, I asked as it was lawyer uncle in call. “I talked about the transfer papers and he'll soon start the procedure. But you know it was already risky for Arushi and after whatever happened, Dr Shekhawat actually wouldn't sit quiet”

“I… um actually wanted to talk about it. In the board room, you said the CCTV captures everything with audio as well. Is that actual or you just said to scare him?”, I asked and she gave a ‘duh’ look. “It's actual. Why would I bluff to him?”

“No, not like that. I wanted to know where can I get the recording. I think it can be of some use for sure. At least to get the restraining order against him until we file a proper case”, even Mom knows why I'm delaying this and she was already on my side. “You can get a copy from security room. But would just restraining order help?”

“I'm not sure about it but it's just for precautions, she's anyway shifting with me, far away from all this but still for safety purpose”, I elucidated and Mom gave an understanding nod before saying, “You can collect it tomorrow morning, and they're trustworthy so don't worry about some tampering or anything”

“You always read through my lines as well”, I said and hugged her being grateful. She was surprised for a moment but anyway ruffled my hair, “Maa jo hu akhir”

[I'm your mother after all]

“Now go to Arushi, don't leave her alone for too long”, she adviced and I nodded. “And tomorrow was her farewell, I'm cancelling it as for now, I don't think she's in a spot to attend it”

“It'll be good for her to avoid any interaction with hospital staff for the time being”, I too agreed with her plan then turned to go back to my room. “And Mom have your dinner, I'll have mine with Arushi so don't wait”

She nodded with a slight smile but her eyes said she was happy and content with my behavior towards Arushi. Only if I could let her know how badly her son is in love with his wife. But soon! I reminded myself and left for my room.
