Celeste's P.O.V
"... Celeste... Celeste..." My older sister, Helen whispers "Celeste wake up,"
"Yes, Helen. What is it ?"I ask, rubbing my eyes and yawning
"Are you seriously asking me that question? It's your birthday silly!" Helen exclaimed, slapping my forehead as though it would help me remember.
"Aren't you going wish me?" I ask, sitting up in bed.
" Oh now she remembers. Happy birthday, you silly goose." Helen smiles " I also came to tell you that mother says get ready soon because she needs to have a word with you."
"Okay, thank you." I say, hoping out of bed. Today is finally the day, my sixteen birthday. I've been waiting for this day my whole life. I have only heard my sisters say good things about their sixteen birthdays. Mother starts to pay more attention to you, you become prettier and boys start to notice you.

The thought of my life changing for the better made me hum as I went into the kitchen. Mother and Stella, one of my other sisters, were chatting happily as they prepared offering baskets to take to the temple.
"Good morning," mother greets, giving me a hug " happy birthday. Now, Stella hand me the baskets it's already getting late"
" Almost...done" Stella smiles then gives mother the baskets.
"Which temples are we visiting today?" I ask taking a basket from mother
" Hebe, Aphrodite and Morpheus' temples."
" Morpheus? The god of dreams? You are going to his temple too?" Stella asks giving me another basket.
" Yes, I will explain it all to you later. Let us go Celeste." Mother orders, walking out of the house.

🌸🌸🌸

First mother and I visited Hebe's temple to thank her for her mercies. Then we went to Aphrodite's temple for some reason mother would not disclose. Finally, we arrived at Morpheus' temple.

The moment we walked in, I could feel that the atmosphere had changed. It felt as though the statues' eyes followed our every movement. The people there only wore black clothes and silver jewelry.
"Mother, why are we here?" I ask, trying not to look around.
" Celeste? Are you alright? You look as pale as a ghost."
" Well...well...the atmosphere here is just so...eerie."
" Oh, I did not notice. Okay, let me finish up quickly and we will be out of here soon." Mother reassured, but it felt like hours had passed by before she told me that she had finished offering her gifts and sacrifices. Thank goodness, I can finally leave this please

" I hope you are feeling better?" Mother asks, as we walk hand in hand. " We must get back early so I can start with lunch, otherwise, your father will be furious."
" Yes. Mother, can I ask you something?"
"Yes anyth- oh dear. Where is your other earring?" Mother inquired, looking at my left ear.
" I think I dropped it. Let me go and check." I say, trying to retrace my steps.
" We can not turn around now, we are almost home." Mother insists
" Okay then I shall go alone. Do not worry I will be home in time." I say, running off.

I remember playing with the hook of the earring as we walked through Morpheus' temple. So it must be there

I can not believe I am walking back into this creepy place. The only thing that makes it creepier is that it is empty.

' let us get this over and done with' I tell myself still looking for the missing earring. I have checked everywhere, but I have found nothing. That is until I reach the main hall. There is nothing there but...a man.

I could not see his face, because he was giving me his back. Maybe he has seen my earring. So I slowly started approaching him until I was stopped halfway.

Big black wings suddenly appeared on him back. This man is no mortal, he is a god! The only thing I can think of doing now is hiding and waiting. So I ran behind a huge pillar and started to observe him.

I noticed him holding something shiny and to my horror, it was my missing earring.

No, no, no. This is bad. I have to get out of here. I slowly started to back away, but I bumped into something while trying to escape...SMASH...
"Who is there!" He yells. If I was not dead before then I will be now.
