I love this trope so I'm probably gonna write one for each couple don't say I didn't warn you 😃
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Jellal trudged through the dense forest with a positivity that his fellow guild mates did not share. The prospect of returning to Magnolia meant he had all the motivation in the world to get through the less-than-habitable environment. A journey that would allow him to finally see an old friend.
It would be the first time he'd seen her in 6 months and the first time since he and the rest of Crime Sorciere had been pardoned.
"Jellal! It's so nice to see you again," Mirajane greeted brightly as he entered Fairy Tail's Guild Hall.
Upon reaching Magnolia, Jellal had sent the rest of Crime Sorciere off to find an inn to stay at and wind down, so he was alone as he went to visit Fiore's top guild.
"It's very nice to see you too," he replied politely.
Jellal took his time looking around and surveying the place he wished he could visit more often. Its grand size made it all the more obvious how vacant it currently was. There were only a couple of people lounging around— the majority of Fairy Tail mages nowhere to be found and the guildhall much too quiet to be Fairy Tail's.
"Where is everyone?" he asked as Mira brought him a drink.
She began wiping down some glasses and gave him a sheepish grin.
"I think they're all resting. Everyone spent the past two weeks celebrating Team Natsu's completion of the 100 years quest, so they're pretty beat," she explained.
She watched Jellal sip his drink, not surprised to find the usually introspective man to be in his own world of thought. While most would consider Jellal's silence as rude, Fairy Tail understood it was his habit as a wanted vigilante. Mira hoped he'd be able to realize that he was no longer a runaway, however.
"Erza should be at her home. I'm sure she'd like it if you visited her," she suggested, breaking a silence clearly filled with Jellal's ruminations.
"I thought she lived in the dorms?"
He turned around in his seat, looking out the guild doors to the faraway buildings as if he'd be able to spot Fairy Hills.
Mirajane laughed, "She decided to get a house. I'll send you with a soup just in case she's caught something." Her eyebrows furrowed as she recalled a memory, "She came in yesterday for a brief moment but she seemed like she was in a rush, so I'm a bit worried."
Jellal appeared like he was going to turn her down before changing his mind and nodding his head once in agreement. After about 10 minutes, he was off with Mirajane's instructions repeating in his head.
Walk as if you're heading towards Fairy Hills but once you make it to the Magnolia tree make a right instead of a left. You'll know which house is hers once you see it.
Upon scanning the street, it was indeed apparent to Jellal which house was Erza's. It was a modest size with a modest exterior; nothing too flashy. However, a small wooden sign proudly displayed the name Scarlet, and Jellal couldn't help but smile to himself, just like every other time he'd ever heard that name.
When he approached the doorstep he felt the urge to groan as his heart rate increased and his palms became sweaty. He could take down a Wizard Saint without feeling the slightest bit of anxiety, but facing Titania? That would make any grown man shake. It didn't bring him much comfort knowing his stress had never been rooted in fear though.
Standing in front of her door, Jellal finally gained the courage to bring his free hand up to knock, but he quickly stopped at the sound of a loud crash. A high-pitched screech soon followed and Jellal's instincts immediately kicked into gear.
