There was no doubt that Lucy was the happiest girl in the world when she saw Natsu standing in the middle of the rapidly melting arena. She couldn't even be angry at the fact that he somehow managed to burn her clothes off because all she could think about was that her best friend was finally back.

Of course, this happiness didn't last too long when she remembered why he was gone in the first place.

"Ya think Lucy will have food at her place?" Natsu asked Happy as they made their way over to Lucy's somewhat new apartment in Crocus.

It had been a few hours since he'd scared off the contestants from the current year's Grand Magic Games and he was satisfied that he could make it known that he was back and stronger than ever. No one would dare mess with Fairy Tail now!

Happy flew around his best friend's head, drooling as the image of a fresh fish became clear in his mind, "We should go check!"

As they came to a stop in front of her apartment, the two friends looked up at its many windows. Turning to each other, a knowing smirk passed over their faces as they telepathically resurfaced an age-old plan.

"Lucy! Happy and I are starving!" Natsu shouted after they landed in what appeared to be the main room of the apartment. He made sure to shut the window behind him, though Lucy would point out that she was completely aware of how they got into her house.

Natsu and Happy nosily snooped around her things until Lucy walked into the room and stared at the two for about 5 seconds. Just as Happy was about to fly at her for a hug, she spun around on her heel and walked to her bedroom.

Bewildered, Happy exaggeratedly looked himself over.

"Are we invisible Natsu?"

He frowned as he stared at the spot where Lucy had been standing, "No, she saw us."

Happy huffed, "Geez what a bad host."

Ignoring Happy's comment, Natsu stood from his seat and followed Lucy's trail. Seeing the serious expression on his face, Happy just shrugged and decided to search Lucy's kitchen and let Natsu deal with her "moodiness".

Walking right into her room without so much as a knock, Natsu was expecting shrill yelling to greet him. Instead, Lucy sat at her bed reading a book, completely ignoring his presence.

"So you decided to move to Crocus? I hope you didn't miss everyone too much," Natsu joked as he sat down beside Lucy, making himself comfortable on the edge of her bed.

She turned another page, completely blocking out Natsu's presence.

"Lucy?"

More silence.

"Happy and I did so many crazy things. He probably won't stop talking for the next two days, so don't get too annoyed at him."

Natsu was beginning to grow frustrated as Lucy continued ignoring him. He was deciding whether he should yank the book out of her hands or go through her desk drawers to read her letters. That would definitely get a reaction.

However, his conspiring came to a halt as soon as he smelled salt in the air. Peering closer at her face, he was alarmed to find that tears were slowly dripping out of Lucy's eyes.

"Luce, what's wrong?"

Her shoulders began to shake and her blank expression faltered. Having Natsu so close to her was causing her immense sadness and anger to overcome her body.

Gently taking the book from her hands, Natsu attempted to comfort Lucy in the only way he knew how. He brought her close to his body, feeling anger as her tears slid down his bare chest. Every shake of her body against his was an added tally to how many punches he was gonna give to the person who had caused his Lucy to cry.
