"Well... not really, but I sometimes watch a bit. I was just thinking it would be interesting to know how he's doing."

Wanda Finkley wasn't on her first world tour, and she knew what to expect. The hectic preparations, endless flights, and the same smiles for the cameras over and over – though she didn't always adhere to that last part, as she knew what would happen if she did. But this time, it was different. This time, whenever she stepped onto the red carpet, she thought of the last time Daniel walked by her side. Now, she was alone. Daniel had to go back to his Formula 1 races, but he left something behind that the girl found hard to ignore – a strange feeling she'd had ever since they appeared together at the premiere in Los Angeles.
She hadn't known him long. In fact, she didn't really know him at all, but somehow, she missed him. She didn't think she felt anything for him. She couldn't even say they were friends, as they'd only really seen each other at Hot Laps and then at the premiere. She missed, rather, the light atmosphere that Daniel brought with him. With him, nothing seemed impossible, and everything felt a little less serious. Plus, she loved his smile and wanted to see it again. She enjoyed that his smile was similar to hers, so she could see it somewhere, at least, when she herself had given up on smiling.
First Stop: Tokyo
When Wanda arrived at the first stop of her world tour in Tokyo, she felt like something was missing. Apart from the usual chaos that comes with a premiere tour, this time, she missed someone specific – Daniel Ricciardo. After their joint premiere in Los Angeles, they had to part ways as Daniel went on to his next Formula 1 races. Yet, she sometimes thought of him and hoped they would finish that conversation about cars someday.
"Wanda, you're a bit out of it today," Nathalie Emmanuel teased her as they prepared together for the Tokyo red carpet. "I've told you this at least three times now. You keep spacing out on us."
Wanda smiled at her best friend. "I'm here, just... well, you know, I'm surprised by how much I miss L.A. and everyone there. Being here makes me feel a little lonely." She always felt that way when she had to travel a lot. Part of it was because they never stayed more than three days in any place. Each day was packed with interviews and various events, but even so, Wanda never quite managed to relax and constantly found herself looking forward to being back home.
"So wait, are you saying you're not glad I'm here?" Nathalie laughed, but her face softened when she noticed a hint of longing in Wanda's eyes. "Is this about Daniel, by any chance?"
Wanda blushed. "Not exactly. But yeah, it was pretty fun having him walk the red carpet with us in L.A. But hey, I get to enjoy you here, right?" She nodded and hugged Nathalie. "With you, this tour will be even better!"
It was true; the premiere in Los Angeles had been completely different from anything Wanda had experienced before. Daniel brought a fresh perspective to it all. He wasn't an actor, and he probably didn't attend many premieres, as it showed in his demeanor. Everyone at premieres was always so serious, moving from one reporter to another, answering the same questions repeatedly. Daniel, however, only approached the people he wanted to, his laughter echoing throughout the area, drawing attention and infecting others with his contagious joy. It had been perhaps the most relaxed premiere ever.
