IT had been a long night for Aven. Hours passed and the sun was already half way up but her thoughts ran a full marathon and kept her up as she attempted to sleep, all while Gracie was sleeping on the other side of the bed.

Now that she thought about it, it had been the second 'I wish you were a boy' kind of encounter and it was hard to explain how she felt about this whole situation. Aven knew there wasn't a problem with liking girls but in that exact moment, she felt wrong for not liking boys. She was missing the one thing society expected.

In that exact moment, she felt unlovable. She could give up the whole fucking world but still be asked for the universe. Being in love and loved back would be a sin.

Aven shook her head in an attempt to rid her thoughts. She stood up carefully, making sure Gracie was still tucked in, before quickly getting changed.

"Where you going?" The brunette asked from her spot in the bed, still drowsy from sleep.

"Out, to get tested." Aven answered, looking around for a pair of matching socks.

This made Gracie shoot up from her prostate position; "What? You hooked up with that girl? Without protection?"

"What?— No— Grac— god what is wrong with you? I'm getting tested to see if I'm a match with my mom. I'm not dumb enough to hook up without protection Abrams." Aven murmured, laughing a bit before saying she would be back before noon.

Gracie nodded in response, remember the conversation she had with Aven a while ago about the whole mother-not situation

Noon had rolled around and Aven was now on her way to Gracie's apartment, stopping to get some lunch for the both of them right after her testing.

"Hey CieCie, I'm back!" Aven shouted as she tripped over Gracie's shoes by the front door. "I got us food— Gracie! Fire!"

Aven quickly dropped everything in her hands and moved towards the counter where a flame had erupted.

"Huh?" The other girl questioned as she stumbled out of her bedroom.

"Uh water? Yeah water okay." Aven muttered to herself as she went towards the sink in attempts to put out the fire.

"Should we call someone?" Gracie asked, suddenly more present, maneuvering her way around Aven. "Wait I have a fire extinguisher. Here."

"What? You do it, I don't know how." Aven scooted to the side, allowing Gracie to take the lead.

"What? No, I took it out, you have to do it." The girl said as she shoved the extinguisher towards the younger girl.

Aven rolled her eyes at the girl's antics, taking the fire extinguisher and started to read the tiny printed font instructions.

"Yeah just let your dyslexic ass slowly read it while we burn to death here."

"Okay if you wanna play like that Abrams, I'll just let us burn here. I practice by taking burning hot showers so I'd last longer than you." Aven sarcastically said as she put her hands on her hips and put the extinguisher on the counter.

"Madigan, I was joking." Gracie sheepishly said as she realized the subborn girl was being serious.

"Yeah same here, you should have seen your face." Aven smirked as she picked the fire extinguisher back up. "Oh my god, Gracie don't move." Her eyes widened as she realized the brunnete's hair had caught on fire

"What?" Gracie inquired as she looked behind her.

"You're a real good listener babe." Aven satirically said and she did the only rational thing she could think of.

She quickly pulled her shirt over her head, leaving her in just a black sports bra, and guided Gracie away from the fire. She started smacking the fire with her shirt in attempts to not let the girl burn alive.

While Aven took care of Gracie's little fire hair situation, Gracie reached for the extinguisher and attempted to work it; "Mother fucker, why isn't it working."

"Here, give me. I'll do it."

Gracie handed the extinguisher to her and Aven pressed down and the white fumes erupted, making Aven stumbled backwards a little, surprised by the excessive force.

Gracie graciously caught her and looked around wide eyed. "Damn."

Aven simultaneously looked around and burst into laughter; "We could never live together, we'd be dead during a life or death situation."

"No, I handled the really well." Gracie played it off, shrugging still shocked looking around. "Look, all our stuff is ruined."

"But it smells nice." Aven shrugged and engulfed the other girl in a hug. "That was kind of scary. Why do we have no survival instincts?"

Gracie hugged back and just laughed as she realized the other girl had sacrificed her shirt for her hair. "You look cute like that." Gracie smirked as she realized Aven didn't even register what she had done.

Aven raised an eyebrow before realizing what Gracie was referencing and quickly pulled away, embarrassed.

The older brunette pulled Aven back into the embrace as she looked into her eyes for a second before quickly changing her gaze to her lips and slowly crashing her lips in Aven's.
