Ela
The next morning we spent time together at breakfast, only the closest people were seated at the table including he-who-shall-not-be-named.
Guess where he had to sit. Right in front of me.
It's taking all my strength to not roll my eyes and slap that stupid smirk off his face. Prick.
The chatter around me is loud, I try to focus on what Rana is saying who's sitting right in the middle with Orkun.
I sip my juice and lean back in my seat, my appetite gone at the sight of him.
"Sleep well?" my teeth are gritting as I answer, "wouldn't you like to know?"
his happy attitude doesn't waver and it further infuriates me as he isn't affected by my blatant rejection. I let out a sigh and cross my arms in front of my chest, „I don't have the energy to deal with you." I slept a total of three hours and I could feel my head throbbing and spinning, reminding me of the days at uni where this would happen many times.
"By the way," I hear Orkun speaks up, all eyes on him now, „the cabs are taking you guys to the airport in two hours,"
"You're sixteen people, two minivans and one regular cab will arrive, if you'd like you can talk to each other about who wants to share a cab with whom," Rana continues.
Rana and Orkun would be staying longer at the hotel before going on their honeymoon. It doesn't matter to me with whom I'd be sharing a cab as long as I get away from him.
The others were mumbling among themselves, probably planning. I down my juice and shut my eyes, massaging the bridge of my nose. I just want to sleep in my bed at home and snuggle with my cat Balthazar. I miss my brown little buddy.
Among the murmuring I hear him loud and clearly say, "I can share the cab with Ela."
My eyes shoot open and I glare at him. "There's no need," I try to say it as casually as possible, "the others already made their minds up," he continues and I kick him under the table, he winces slightly and chuckles, the others watching us argue back and forth.
Doesn't he have a girlfriend to go back to?
Rana speaks up, "Ela, you guys are flying to the same place. It would make sense to go together." He-who-shall-not-be-named looks at me but I ignore him not granting him an explanation. He doesn't even know that you work yet alone live in the same city as him. He probably thinks that the incident at the club was during a vacation.
"Perfect," I bite out. Great, the hits just keep coming. I dread leaving the hotel after the discussion.
I roll my eyes internally. I convince myself that the news aren't just rumors to fuel my hate towards him and distance myself with more ease.
Later I roll my suitcase towards the lobby where Rana and Orkun are saying goodbye to everyone, I get a tight hug from her, "Have a safe flight, text me when you land."
I nod with a smile on my lips, I love how caring she is even when she should be focusing on her honeymoon. "I will, don't you worry about me. Have a great, enjoyful and most of all relaxing honeymoon."
She grins and gives me one last hug before I walk towards the entrance of the hotel, where the cabs already await us. I watch with disappointment how the rest of the group already takes their seats in the minivans and turn towards the regular cab with a sigh.
The cab driver walks over to open the trunk and help me with my luggage when he's stopped by a voice, "I've got it."
I turn towards the voice and watch with skepticism as he instead places both our luggages in the trunk. If he expects me to thank him he's wrong. With a roll of my eyes I enter the cab and make myself comfortable on the back seat.
