Today Amrapali had all the luxuries of the world which she used to dream of, but she could not sleep. Amrapali thought to herself, “I had thought so many things about Maharaj, but for how long will I be able to save myself. If not Maharaj, then someone else?? No... no... this will not happen, I will have to do something soon.” Amrapali was thinking all this when she heard a sweet tune. She came to the platform built in her room, and saw that a Banjaran was sitting in the courtyard of her palace and singing a song. Hearing her sweet voice, Amrapali felt as if someone had poured sugar candy in her ears. Amrapali enjoyed her song for some time and then came back to her room and slept. On the other hand, as soon as the Banjaran who was singing in the courtyard finished her song, a maid came to her and said, “Come, let’s go and eat something.”The Banjaran bowed her head and greeted her and followed her but her eyes were fixed only on the room of the Nagarvadhu.
The next morning, Amrapali woke up before sunrise. After bathing in the lake, she wore new clothes and offered water to the Sun. Today, the maids served various types of delicious dishes to Amrapali who always filled her stomach with roti and salt but those dishes did not have the taste of the food made by her mother. Amrapali ate the food reluctantly and then went to her room.
Just then a maid came and knocked on her door and said, “Devi Amrapali, Maharaj has remembered you?”
When Amrapali heard this, she started thinking, because Maharaj had met her just last night, then what happened suddenly that Maharaj has remembered her again.
“Okay, you go, we will come soon!” Amrapali said this and sent that maid back.
After some time, Amrapali got ready and reached the king’s room and greeted Maharaj and said, “Maharaj, did you remember us??”
Now Amrapali was not as afraid of the king as she used to feel earlier, maybe it was because of last night because her thinking about the king had started changing a bit.
“Yes, we wanted to ask you something?” The king replied.
“Tell me Maharaj, what do you want to ask?” Amrapali said.
The king signaled the maid to leave and after the maid left, the king asked Amrapali, "Can we know what is your relation with the masked man with blue eyes??"
Amrapali was shocked to hear this, she had not expected such a question from the king.
Amrapali said hesitantly, "My relation, that too with the masked man... what are you saying Maharaj??"
The king said, “Devi, our spies have informed us that the masked man reaches wherever you live. Should we call it a coincidence or???”
“Just a coincidence Maharaj”, Amrapali interrupted the king and further said, “It is true that the masked man reaches every place where I live, but I assure you Maharaj, that I have no relation of any kind with that masked man.”
The truth was clearly visible in Amrapali's face and words, while the Maharaj had lines of worry on his face.
The Maharaj said, “Amrapali, before being a courtesan, you are the daughter of a soldier, loyalty to this kingdom is in your blood. That is why we trust you, but we cannot put the security of Vaishali in danger just because of our trust.”
Amrapali said, “Yes Maharaj, I am well aware of this.”
Maharaj said, "Amrapali, the responsibility of Vaishali's security is now yours too. If you come to know anything about that blue-eyed masked man, then inform us immediately."
Amrapali said, "Believe me Maharaj, this will happen, I will try my best to find out about him."
Maharaj felt relieved after hearing this, then Vaishali's Chief Minister entered Maharaj's room with a female soldier.
