Chap 5: The Voyage Continues & Drifting Between the Stars

『Herta Space Station, Supply Zone』

After leaving Herta's office, Stelle and Ace went to the Railway Platform at the Supply Zone to meet Himeko. On their ways, Stelle carefully thinking about her options. Soon, she came to a decision and started walking towards the platform.

As Stelle and Ace are walking to the platform, they meet Dan Heng on the way and Stelle want to ask him something.

Realizing that Stelle wanted to talk to Dan Heng, Ace immediately spoke up.

"I'll go to Himeko's place first. You go ahead and talk to Dan Heng." Ace then left.

Stelle nodded to Ace before she went to Dan Heng's place.

"Oh, it's you, Stelle... Do you have something on your mind?" Dan Heng speaks up as he saw Stelle was coming to his place.

"You're really good at taking care of others." Stelle told him.

"Oh? What did I do?" Dan Heng asked.

"Your judgements are always accurate." Stelle said.

"It's about being observant at all times and carefully making the best choice for the situation. You can do it too." Dan Heng told her. "I think you're not bad yourself, Stelle."

"I didn't think you approved of me."

"If you're referring to what I think about you joining the Astral Express... You're overthinking it." Dan Heng told her. "My position is simple: It doesn't matter to me. I suggest you ignore my opinions and make your own choice."

"You don't seem like someone who likes to travel." Stelle commented.

"Being on the Express isn't exactly the same as "traveling" or "adventuring..." The Astral Express symbolizes "trailblazing" you understand? Trailblazing implies the unknown, be it unknown risks or unknown rewards. In my opinion, the unknown is no more terrifying than the known... In fact, the unknown signifies something we can control and change."

"I'm a little hesitant." Stelle said as she thinks about what Dan Heng had said.

"Don't use hesitation as an excuse. If you hesitate for too long, your original way of thinking will eventually cease to exist." Dan Heng advised.

"Let me think things over." Stelle said as Dan Heng gives a slight nod and shifts his gaze elsewhere.

Stelle said goodbye to Dan Heng and continued walking. When she arrived at the Railway Platform, she saw March 7th is standing near the edge of the Platform.

"March." Stelle called her as she comes to March's place.

"Hey, Stelle! I heard the news. You're coming with us on the Express, right?" March asked in excited.

"Do you want me to come along?" Stelle asked as she blushed a little.

"Do I even need to say it? I think we're becoming fast friends... isn't that enough?" March asked back. "But you look like you've got something on your mind... come on, out with it!"

Stelle suddenly scratched her head as she didn't know what to say. She continued like that until she spoke up.

"Oh how time flies." Stelle said something that made her want to slap herself because it didn't make any sense at all.

"Getting nostalgic already?" March commented.

Luckily for Stelle, March is someone who knows how to keep the conversation going.

"Y'know, when you were passed out, all I thought was I had to look after you. And then you picked up the bat! Just incredible! In the blink of an eye, you knocked that big fella into Mr. Yang's black hole and saved me... I still haven't thanked you properly yet..." March suddenly sighed and spoke with boredom. "Nah, we're not splitting up here..."
