There was not one person in this whole damn village that ever liked Mieko Tomoe...That's it, I mean, there's not much more to add, really.

She was a little bitch. Honestly. She would run around all day, distracting people from their lives -I know, the horror. And she would pull pranks on everyone. Placing water buckets over roofs, and tipping them down when someone walked out. Mieko was known for swapping household pets and getting into trouble with kids twice her size. She used to take people's shoes and then pretend to try and help them find it.

She was caught many times as well, once with a string of rocks -something she refused to tell anyone what it was about. She was caught scaling the walls of homes many times, as she often fell. She caught sneaking around in people's home with the family cat in hand.

But no matter how many times they go to her father about it, Mieko stayed the same way, and she was brought back to her little house by the elders of the town, dragging her by her dirty Kimono and throwing her towards her negligent father.
Because of this, Mieko didn't have many friends when school started, and so she then acted out more.

She couldn't read and she couldn't write, and she was sorely lacking in all of her classes. She was the only one keeping the class behind, and since she was just a girl with no foreseeable future, there was no problem in kicking her out of school.
But Mieko knew she had to do something to pass her time.

By the time she was 8, everyone in the village knew her by face, and they steered a clear way away from her. She was bad luck, and maybe the unusual red eyes and the pitch black hair didn't help her case either. Soon, she was getting blamed for everything, and getting blamed so much that whenever a seasonal crop turned out bad, it would be her fault.

At the beginning, Mieko was just looking for a way to have fun since nobody wanted to have fun with her, but it turned out so much worse than she ever thought it would.

And one day, when there was a face that Mieko had never seen before, it only felt natural for her to follow them around. It was a boy she was following, and he was a good few years older than her. And he had the most extraordinary hair she's ever seen in her whole left.
Red and gold hair with eyes to match. He was tall too, and clearly older than her by a few years. And he looked so...strange. Well, aside from his hair and eyes, there was a way that he carried himself.

But when he made his way towards the back of the village, there were less places Mieko had to hide, so she distanced herself from his strange teenager and could no longer hear who he was talking to.
But when they made it a little way's past the village, right over to Crazy Old Jiheko's house, Mieko started to doubt the high praise she was starting to give this person.

Crazy Old Jiheko was a town spectacle. He only ever came out at night, and he wore the same pair of clothes with a goofy red sword he always had on him. He was often drunk, and if he wasn't drunk, he was drinking atop of someone's rooftop -and if he wasn't doing either, he was cutting down trees to supply firewood.
But, like Mieko, he didn't have the most perfect reputation, and even Mieko didn't think much of him. People who drink aren't her favourite people in the world, after all, she rarely spends time with her father, and he always has a drink in his large hands.

And when this brightly haired boy went into his house, clearly there was no other option for Mieko other than to reasonably climb the wall he had over his garden and spy on what was going on.
With her legs just dangling off the wall and her arms gripping every flaw in the concrete wall, Mieko was able to keep her head at the perfect height to see what was going on.

From what Mieko could see, the boy looked too enthusiastic to be in the presence of Crazy Old Jiheko, it was like he was some god to him.
They talked for a moment, and then when the boy with the colourful hair turned his head, it looked like Crazy Old Jiheko attacked him! And from the shock of the movement, Mieko tried to jump back, which only made her fall all the way to the ground.
