Diya's POV

I have heard a lot about this Aman from Deepak, but was not fortunate enough to meet him. For Deepak, Aman is his confidant. Deepak is a homebody. So it was hard for him to move to Mumbai for his work. He always prefers to be in these secluded tiny groups of friends than the loud large crowd. He was super frazzled, when he got his appointment letter as it stated that the office that is allotted to him is in Mumbai. But things got much better when he found out that Aman is his flat mate. They have known  each other from their college days, since both of them did their BTech in the same college. And finally I got the chance to meet him.

I have never seen his picture before, because I have this weird habit of imagining someone based on my taste. I thought that I would be like a protagonist from the rom com who is super attractive, seductive and handsome. In contrast to all my imagination, his looks reflected absolute simplicity. He is wearing a Gray Collared t-shirt paired with blue denim. Tanned but healthy skin, Ordinary body build , which is well maintained, but not a gym fit with black straight hair. He has a subtle smile with beautiful dimples  on both cheeks and a slightly crooked nose . He has dark brown eyes which makes him more attractive. His smile with dimples reflected a wave of warmth and positivity.

I don't know why I keep keenly interested in him. But I can easily say that he is such a gentleman by the way he carries himself . My parents welcomed him to our home. By the time I brought him snacks and drinks, he started talking with my parents.  While I served him the juice, our eyes met and he gave me a warm smile.

"I heard from Deepak that it was your first day at your work. How's your new life Diya"  he asked me.

"Yep, it was. And about my new life, I can only say that So far, so good, since it's my first day. I hope that everything will be fine in the coming days." I replied to him.

"Hmmm..All the best then." He sounded sincere when he wished me.  "Here, I bought you this book as a token of gift for your new achievement" he said when he handed me a book perfectly wrapped well.

With super excitement I unwrapped the cover. To my surprise it was one of the books from my favorite author, which I was planning to buy. And right now I am so happy to get this book as a gift.

"Oww ,Thank you so much Aman for this gift. I was planning to buy this book. She is my favorite author." I said

" Happy to hear that Divya. I had heard a lot of good reviews about this book. And I thought since you are a literature teacher you would like this. And guess what! My intuition was correct." Aman said with a smile.

"He is always good at choosing gifts for anyone , Diya. I always joke that the girl whom Aman is going to marry will be so happy in their life, since he will celebrate each and every achievement of her with little gifts. And the most interesting part is he has this super power to understand what we are wishing for. Doesn't it, Aman?" Deepak said.Aman passed him a smile.

"Deepak, I forgot to ask you.Did you guys have any food on the way? Amma asked Deepu.

"No, I am super hungry. What's there for dinner Amma?" Deepak asked his mother while running his hands over his stomach showing that he is hungry as he said .

"Then Deepu gets ready for dinner. Aman , son have some food with Deepu. Appa has made his special chicken curry . Come son , come and sit" said amma.

"I am so sorry aunty, but my ammi has prepared all my favorite dishes for me when she got to know that I am visiting her. So if won't eat that then she would be disappointed and her efforts will go in vain. So I will have your handmade food some other time" Aman said with an apologetic smile .

"If you say so then it's fine, but you should come here for dinner" said amma.

"Why only dinner? Let's make it a whole day . Aman it's Thursday today, you do one thing, on Saturday you come here with your parents , we will have a small get together. I will call your dad and ask him. Are you okay with it?" Appa asked him.

"Yeah I am perfectly fine with that. So shall I take leave then. It's getting too late. My family is waiting for me to join them for dinner. And I don't want to let them wait anymore." Said Aman. Then he started to say bye to everyone and last he looked at Diya .

"It's nice meeting you Bye Diya, Good night." Said while showing his dimple smile.

"Well pleasure is all mine to meet my brother's best friend. Good night and drive safely. Bye" Diya said while waving her hands .

Aman got into his car and started the engine. Appa went near the window and once again reminded him about the get together thing. He nodded his head and said goodbye to us as he drove away.

When I got into the bed at night, I started to anticipate Saturday. I don't know why something in me just wanted Saturday to come sooner . With that I drift into sleep.

Here in this story Diya's family is south indian, but as you can see since they have been living in Delhi for more than 20 years, they have a mixed culture. Hope you find it ok.

Do give me feedback. Since I am a learning writer it would be a great help for me
