ROSE
Rose entered Aurora's office with a confident stride, the click of her heels echoing softly against the polished floors. The room was spacious, filled with the scent of fresh coffee and the subtle hum of productivity. Aurora looked up from her desk, her eyes widening in surprise, her expression quickly shifting to one of guarded tension.
"Hey, babe," Rose greeted with a playful smirk, her voice low and intimate. Aurora's cheeks flushed, but not with pleasure. Instead, her lips pressed into a thin line, her posture stiffening.
"Rose, what are you doing here?" Aurora's tone was curt, her eyes flickering with unease.
Ignoring the chilly reception, Rose leaned against the edge of Aurora's desk, her gaze unwavering. "I was wondering what time your lunch break is today. Thought I could take you out for a bite to eat."
Aurora's eyes narrowed slightly, suspicion coloring her features. "My lunch break is at one, but I have plans."
Rose's smirk didn't falter. "Change of plans then. I'll pick you up at one."
Before Aurora could protest, Rose closed the distance between them, her hand gently cupping Aurora's cheek. Aurora's breath hitched, but before she could pull away, Rose pressed her lips against hers in an intense, passionate kiss. Aurora's mind reeled, caught off guard by the sudden intimacy.
As Rose pulled back, she met Aurora's startled gaze with a mischievous grin. "I'll see you at one, babe," she said softly, her voice filled with promise. She turned and left the office, her presence lingering in the air long after she had gone.
Aurora sat back in her chair, her heart racing and her mind spinning, unsure of what to make of the encounter.
AURORA
Aurora sat back in her chair, her mind racing after Rose had left her office. The kiss lingered on her lips, a confusing mix of irritation and excitement swirling in her chest. Rose's sudden appearance and bold move had caught her completely off guard, and the audacity of it all left Aurora feeling both flustered and frustrated. She tried to refocus on her work, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Rose.
By the time one o'clock rolled around, Aurora had made up her mind. She would avoid Rose and stick to her original plan. She gathered her things quickly, planning to slip out of her office and down the back stairs to avoid any confrontation. As she reached for the door handle, she hesitated, taking a deep breath to steady herself.
But when she opened the door, there stood Rose, leaning casually against the wall just outside her office, her confident smile unwavering.
"Going somewhere, babe?" Rose asked, her tone teasing.
Aurora stiffened, her resolve hardening. "Rose, I told you I have plans. I can't go to lunch with you."
Rose's smile didn't falter. "Plans can change, Aurora. Come on, just a quick lunch. It won't hurt."
Aurora crossed her arms over her chest, standing her ground. "I told you, I can't. And you can't just barge into my office and expect me to drop everything."
Rose stepped closer, her gaze intense. "I get it, you're busy. But everyone needs a break, even you. And I'm not just anyone."
Aurora sighed, feeling the tension between them. "You're being pushy, Rose. This isn't fair."
"Maybe," Rose admitted, her voice softening just a bit. "But I also know you, Aurora. You work too hard. Let me take you out. Just this once."
Aurora looked into Rose's eyes, seeing the determination there. She felt her resolve wavering, the prospect of a break and Rose's company tempting despite her best efforts to resist. She let out a frustrated sigh.
"Fine," she said, her voice firm but resigned. "But only if I'm not paying."
Rose's grin widened, a triumphant gleam in her eyes. "Deal."
Aurora shook her head, a small smile tugging at her lips despite herself. "Let's get this over with then."
As they walked out together, Aurora couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and apprehension. Rose had a way of getting under her skin, but maybe, just maybe, a lunch break wouldn't be so bad after all.
