Ken"Please leave. Leave right now," I say breathlessly.
Bobbi's dainty nose is scrunched up, her high cheekbones covered in pink blush. She purses her lips when she looks at me, kneeling on the ground in her skirt as she takes my wrist to check my pulse.
She ignores me. "Your heart is racing,"
"Yeah, people's hearts beat rapidly, it's normal," I say. A stab of sharp pain hits my chest and I wince.
"If the end of the season football party planning is stressing out you can get your teammates to cover for you," she says sweetly with a tinge of concern in her voice.
I shuffle away from her, trying to get my breathing back to normal. "I'm the captain, I have to be there,"
She crosses her arms. "Isn't there a co-captain?"
"Yes," I say through my teeth. "Dominic,"
"Perfect," she chirps. "Have him do everything,"
I shake my head at her. "You don't get it, it has to be me, this goes on my college resume,"
Her eyes are soft, she reaches for me, cupping my cheek with her hand. "You don't have to be everything to everyone all the time," she says.
I gasp. "I'm not,"
"Look at you, you're miserable,"
I sigh, leaning my head back. "I just wish I was normal,"
She laughs. "You are," she picks at a piece of lint that's on my shirt. "You just handle pressure a little differently. There's nothing wrong with that,"
I take her hand, kissing her fingers. She smiles raising an eyebrow at me. "Thank you for being here," I say.
"Where else would I be?" She says, tapping a fist against the palm of my hands, lightly.
Oddly that makes me feel better as a weird tingling sensation trickles through my nerves.
"You need to cut some things out of your schedule so it minimizes your workload," she says, looking at me. "It'll make you feel better and ease the pressure,"
"But I like doing a lot of things, it makes me seem more heroic, like anything life throws at me, I can handle it," I say.
She moves to sit next to me, linking my arm with hers. "Well let's start at the source, do you have any idea what caused this attack,"
I swallow as my breath hitches. My chest was throbbing. I take Bobbi's hand and squeeze it hard.
"No, I don't," I manage to say.
I turn my head, looking through the bleachers. The boys were bantering back and forth on ideas of where to have the party and making arrangements to get food and drinks. Some were just messing around, tossing paper airplanes and riding on each other's backs.
My gaze was focused across the room towards the hall. Asia was talking with that freak Darius. I grind my teeth as she flirtatiously pushes him away.
I was just about to offer a great idea when I saw her over there with him. My heart spiked into my chest. I knew that smile, I knew that move, biting her finger before looking away.
These were all her tells. She had a crush on him but I couldn't figure out why. What were his intentions with her and when did they get so close? It couldn't be anything good.
She should be over here with me but instead, she was there with him. I couldn't believe he dared to go over and take what was mine when I warned him. Asia Vesper was my girl.
