KenAsia finally appeared as she stumbled her way through the hallway traffic. Her eyebrows are furrowed and she pouts her lips, her shoulder length braids swinging behind her. My skin prickles, I got goosebumps from just looking at her. My anger flickers when I realize who she was talking to before and I shove my clenched fists in my hands.
"What was that all about?" I ask her, staring behind her.
My stomach twists. I didn't like the idea of Asia having anything to do with Darius Quimby.
She smiles, shaking her head and hooking her arms in mine. "Nothing, it was just a misunderstanding,"
I nod. "Good. You should stay clear of that guy,"
She raises an eyebrow at me and purses her lips. "Why?"
"He's bad news, like criminal background bad,"
She waves her hands in the air laughing. "Ooo I'm so scared,"
"It's true," Bobbi says curtly, her lower lip trembling. "He's dangerous, Asia stay away from him,"
Her body is shaking and she reaches for my hand for support. As our fingers lock I go rigid, then I release her grip, swatting her hand away. Bobbi flinches, hurt evident in her eyes.
Asia tilts her head to the side as she stares at us. "Right...okay, whatever you guys say,"
The bell rings and the three of us stand there as students push past us to get to their classes. Asia pulls out a folded piece of paper and opens it up, peering at it and tracing her finger along the edge.
"I can show you where your class is if you'd like?" I offer, running my fingers through my hair.
She smiles at me and my knees go weak. "You sure? I think my class is on the other side of the building,"
I take her class schedule and gently put my hand on her lower back. "Yeah, it'll be no problem!"
Bobbi pushes between us, snatching the schedule from me. "My class is a few doors down from hers, I can take her," she says.
Asia laughs, taking her schedule back from Bobbi. "Wouldn't this be easier if the both of you just took me?"
"Sure, why not?" I say through my teeth, shooting Bobbi a glare.
"You'll be late for practice!" Bobbi blurts out.
"Fine," I spit. My eyes turned to slits as I shot daggers toward Bobbi, clicking my tongue in annoyance.
She smirks and pushes Asia along. I caught her hand. "You should head to your class Asia, I just need to talk to Bobbi for a second,"
Asia nods and walks down the hallway. I guess I'm staring too long at her ass because Bobbi shoves me in the shoulder.
"You're a pig, you know that?" She says, seething.
"You didn't seem to think so last week," I remarked.
She crossed her arms, her lips pressed into a thin line, her jaw clenched. She grabs a fist full of my shirt and drags me to our spot, the janitor's closet.
"Closet now," she says as she stomps towards the door and slams it behind her, almost getting my fingers.
"I'm the one who's supposed to be pissed, not you," I say as I pull on the metal chain that turns the light on.
A blood vessel popped in the middle of her forehead. I stepped back, swallowing hard.
"Seriously Ken? We're best friends and you're treating me like crap," she says.
