The next day dawned brighter than usual, but you could hardly appreciate it. Thoughts of last night replayed in your mind on an endless loop, making it impossible to concentrate on anything else. By mid-morning, you decided to ask your manager for a half-day off. To your relief, they agreed without much fuss, probably sensing the stress you were under.
Once back at your apartment, you tried to busy yourself with mundane tasks, but everything reminded you of Homelander. His touch, his words, the way his eyes bore into yours as if seeing right through you. The memories made your heart race and your skin heat up. Sitting down, you took a deep breath, trying to calm yourself.
It was no use. Your mind kept wandering back to him, to the intensity of the feelings he'd stirred within you. It was all so overwhelming. As the thoughts swirled, you found yourself reaching for your phone, hesitating before finally deciding to send him a text.
You typed and deleted several messages, struggling to find the right words. Finally, you settled on something simple.
Reader: Hey, it's me. I just wanted to say thank you again for last night. It was... a lot to take in, but in a good way.
You hit send before you could second-guess yourself again. Almost immediately, your phone buzzed with a reply.
Homelander: Hey there. I was wondering if you'd text me. Looks like you had a lot on your mind about last night. Everything okay?
His quick response made your heart skip a beat. Taking a deep breath, you typed back.
Reader: Yeah, I'm okay. Just... still processing everything, I guess.
Homelander's reply came swiftly.
Homelander: Glad to hear it. Take your time. I meant what I said—I can show you so much more, but only when you're ready.
You could practically hear the teasing lilt in his voice. Your fingers hovered over the keys, unsure of how to respond. Before you could overthink it, another message came through.
Homelander: By the way, I keep thinking about you. It's distracting, in a good way. Looking forward to Saturday.
You felt a rush of warmth at his words, a mix of flattery and nervousness. The idea of Homelander thinking about you, of all people, was surreal. With a shy smile, you responded.
Reader: I'm looking forward to it too.
His next message was almost immediate, and you could sense the cocky grin behind it.
Homelander: Good to know. Can't wait to see that cute face of yours again. And who knows, maybe we can have a repeat of last night... or something even better.
You blushed deeply, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety.
Reader: Maybe, you typed back, your shyness evident even through the screen.
Homelander's reply was a single word, laden with promise.
Homelander: Perfect.
You put your phone down, feeling a mixture of anticipation and nervousness. It was two days away from the date, and you had a lot to process. But for now, you allowed yourself to bask in the thrill of his words, the excitement of what was to come, and the fluttering feeling in your chest whenever you thought about him.
