As Professor McGonagall began reading names from the parchment, the room buzzed with anticipation. The students shifted on their feet, excitement and nerves palpable in the air. The first name was called, and the sorting ceremony commenced.
"Abbott, Hannah!"
A small girl with blonde hair nervously approached the stool, and the hat was placed on her head. After a moment, the hat shouted, "HUFFLEPUFF!" The Hufflepuff table erupted in cheers as Hannah joined her new housemates.
"Black, Eleanor!"
Eleanor stepped forward confidently, her dark hair shimmering under the enchanted ceiling. She placed the Sorting Hat on her head and waited.
"Ah, another Black. Plenty of intelligence and wit. Better be... RAVENCLAW!"
Eleanor smiled broadly as she joined the Ravenclaw table, greeted warmly by her new housemates.
"Black, Hydrus!"
Hydrus stepped forward, his expression a mix of excitement and determination. He placed the hat on his head, and it deliberated for a moment.
"Hmm, interesting... Plenty of courage, indeed. Better be... GRYFFINDOR!"
Hydrus grinned as he made his way to the Gryffindor table, receiving enthusiastic applause from the Gryffindors.
"Bones, Susan!"
Susan, with her kind eyes and calm demeanor, approached the stool and placed the hat on her head. It didn't take long for the hat to decide.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
Susan beamed as she joined Hannah at the Hufflepuff table, the two girls already chatting excitedly.
"Brown, Lavender!"
The ceremony continued, with each student being called in alphabetical order, the Sorting Hat making its decisions swiftly and confidently.
"Greengrass, Daphne!"
Daphne walked with poise and grace, her head held high. She placed the hat on her head, and it immediately shouted, "SLYTHERIN!"
Daphne joined the Slytherin table, greeted by polite nods and smiles from her new housemates.
"Granger, Hermione!"
Hermione, her bushy hair slightly tamed for the occasion, approached the stool nervously. She placed the hat on her head, and after a brief pause, the hat declared, "GRYFFINDOR!"
Hermione sighed with relief and joined the Gryffindor table, greeted by enthusiastic cheers.
"Potter, Hadrian!"
The entire hall seemed to hold its breath as Harry stepped forward, feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation. Whispers spread through the crowd, and many eyes were on him. Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, was about to be sorted.
Harry sat on the stool, the Sorting Hat placed on his head and covering his eyes, and he immediately heard a small voice whisper in his ear.
"Ah, Harry Potter. I see bravery, like your father. But there's much more, isn't there? So much potential."
Harry swallowed hard, thinking about what he truly wanted. "Gryffindor sounds good because of my dad, but I also like learning and Ravenclaw seems to fit that."
"Yes, indeed," the hat mused. "You have a thirst for knowledge and a keen mind. But you also have a lot of bravery. Gryffindor would help you develop that side of yourself."
Harry thought about the possibilities. "I know, but I think I'd fit better in Ravenclaw. I love reading, learning new things, and solving puzzles. I want to explore and understand magic deeply, not just use it."
