It took the new kid another two days to wake up. In the meantime, Will had been claimed along with another boy named Rory. She watched from the archery range as Luke showed Percy Jackson around to see what he was good at. According to Clarisse, she had a run in with him and sent him on his 'glory' kick. Just like she did to every newbie that came along, except for Will, she had liked Will.
When they got to the archery range and he bombed his shot, she laughed and walked toward the leaving pair.
"Wait up!" She called and Luke skidded to a stop. The new kid followed his lead and turned around.
The new kid had blonde hair, similar to what hers used to look like before she damaged it with her dye. But his eyes were all sea-green and blue. She didn't say anything but her head wanted her to scream out water, water child. She pretended like she couldn't hear it, like she didn't want to see what would happen if she shoved him into the lake right now.
She held out her empty hand. "I'm Atalanta. Daughter of Apollo, we're Cabin 7. I helped out with you while you were in the infirmary."
The kid nodded, but he looked like his world had come to ruin, which it probably did. That woman, his mother, had disappeared and for all everyone knew she was dead, even if every part of her screamed that she wasn't dead. Atalanta didn't know what she was and so she kept her mouth shut. She was too scared to go digging into whatever this kid was wrapped into, she didn't know if she wanted to get wrapped into, especially if her recent hypothesis was correct. Because right now, all he reminded her of was the boy from her dreams and that didn't make her feel any better.
"So, we tried archery. Forges or swords next?" She asked.
Luke stared at her. "Forges, why?"
"Calm down, Luke. I'm off classes till infirmary duty, and I'm bored. You're showing Percy Jackson around and I think it'll be better if he can get more than one opinion." She said.
Luke made a face before nodding, a smile creeping upon his face. Percy stared at her like she was this confusing puzzle he wanted the answer to.
"How'd you know my name?" He asked.
"Chiron said it when he saw you and since I was the closest there I heard it."
"You were?" He asked and she nodded. She guessed he didn't remember, not that she thought he would, not when he was too busy dealing with what had happened and then passed out shortly after.
"C'mon, let's get you to the Forges and I can tell you about my cabin if you want," She offered and Percy turned to look at Luke.
Luke nodded and Percy swiftly nodded and turned to look at her.
She gave a smile. "So, while Apollo is known as the god of the sun and archery. He is also the god of healing, plagues, music and arts, truth, prophecy, knowledge, protection of the young, logic, and reasoning among probably other things forgotten to time. So we run the infirmary at camp. We also normally teach archery lessons and monitor the Arts and Crafts building. We live in the big golden cabin. Uhm, let's see, we also are normally the ones who get sent on patrol if we need to for camp. There are around 16 of us right now. But Daisy and Don should be coming around soon, so there'll be 18 of us. We're one of the bigger cabins. But with a new comes people that leave. We had around 20 last year."
Percy frowned. "That's a lot of titles and kids." is all he said and she let out a small laugh.
"It is indeed and it is a lot of work for his kids to do. But we try our best and so does he." She said, letting the word 'he' fall off her tongue to Luke, who was glaring at the sun like it was going to attack them.
