Chapter 3: Mist and Love

- 2 days later -

Yuri was ready to introduce herself to the other Hashira. She was standing over Kyojuro as he slept. She had her helpers standing outside the bedroom door to give her some privacy. She gently took his hand and placed it over her cheek. "Kyojuro. I am going to help the other Hashira with their training. In any way I can. I will come back as soon as you have awakened. I really don't want to leave you, but like you; this is my last mission before retiring like we both agreed. Then... we can finally start our family like we wanted. I just want to be with you."

She waits for him to respond but gets nothing from him. Her eyes well up before leaning in and kisses his lips gently. It was hurtful to not hear his voice or even see his eyes. "I love you. I will be back." She wipes her eyes before leaving the room. She sees her trusted kakushi looking at her, waiting for her orders.

"Send Hikaru if there is any sign of movement from my fiance, Understood?" They both respond in unison. "Of course, Miss Michida." They bowed to her before she bowed back. She leaves while wearing her uniform and her crimson haori with the gold trimming, her sword, and a knapsack full of things she needed for her journey.

The trip to get to the main headquarters shouldn't be too long of a trip. She was just nervous about what the others would say to her once they met. This was maybe the first time she's ever left the village since what happened to Kyojuro.

Kyojuro may be resting, but he was alert of Yuri's presence. When she held his hand, he felt her touch. He could hear her voice. He wanted so badly to open his eyes and hold her close. But he was trapped in his own body. Almost like a spell had come over him; maybe his own soul wasn't strong enough to wake himself up. But he wanted to try.

This was his own battle that he needed to overcome. Hearing that she left, he was not wanting her to go. He would rather take her place... "Yuri! I will take your place! I need you safe!" He shouts this in his mind while fighting to move.

She had little knowledge of what's happening with the demons and about what Kibutsuji is up to. Why? He's been keeping her safe; knowing she's half human-half demon who can walk in the sunlight is enough to get Kibutsuji's attention. Kyojuro doesn't want to lose her...again.

- Time passed -

Muichiro was enjoying a midday stroll along a dirt path by himself. He was always giving himself time to just think. This was also one of his ways to pass the time. Ginko was close by but keeping her distance as she flew in circles from above. Suddenly, she surprised him by swooping down and alerting him. "DEMON! DEMON!"

Muichiro was quick to grab his sword's handle and got in his ready stance before turning around. He didn't see anyone. He finds Ginko coming back again. "DEMON! COMING THIS WAY!" Muichiro was on high alert as he couldn't see anyone. "Where?" He was scanning the area but didn't see anyone.

But once he turned back around, he heard someone and quickly swung his sword but was stunned to see it had been caught by two bare hands clasped in prayer. He wasn't expecting to see a young woman with beautiful copper hair and crimson eyes looking at him. "Be careful where you swing your blade, you could hurt someone."

Muichiro was in utter shock that someone was as fast as he was to stop his blade simply by hand. He sees Ginko coming back and she was heading straight for Yuri. "GET AWAY FROM HIM YOU DEMO-"

Yuri was quick to use a cloth to catch Ginko once she got close enough and tied her wings at her side and held her like a chicken. "Hikari told me about you. You must be Ginko."

"Release my crow. Now." Muichiro finally snapped out of it once he saw Ginko was manhandled. "I will do so if she agrees to not only attack me but to stop insulting Hikari."
