Quaritch choked out the seawater he had swallowed until his whole chest hurt. He shouldn't have let those bastards come and hunt down the Tulkun. Who said that they don't fight off? And in the end... what happened? The hunting ship was destroyed, and he got caught by a wave and stuck on this damn island. By himself.
The young recom's heart was screaming furiously.
The first thing he did after scrambling onto the beach was to check the radio. Of course, it didn't work. Maybe because of the time it stayed in the water.
"Fucking hell..."
Vulgar words were thrown out every time he felt annoyed. He dragged his body and sat down against a big rock before looking for anything in his possession he could use.
A small knife and bullets. Great! Plenty of bullets but no weapons. Just great!
On the good side, the GPS still worked. It would probably take 4-5 days or more to wait for a ship or helicopter to take him back.
Where the heck did you go, Cupcake? How do those savages summon their own Ikran?
After taking a break and figuring out a survival plan, Quaritch decided to get up and walk around to explore the place. Unfamiliar with it, he took off to start looking for a temporary place to stay.
From what he had gathered, the only lead he had was that of those three large, pointy mountains arranged in a row.
Damn it. At least, he managed to find a cave to shield him from the environment's humidity.
...
"Ma'Jake... where are you going?"
"I'm off to practice riding a Tsurak."
"Aren't you going you wait for him first?"
Jake shook his head, bent down and snuggled into his mate for a bit before walking out. She just stared at him without speaking.
The one that Neytiri was referring to was the Olo'eyktan of the Metkayina tribe.
Of course he wasn't waiting for him. He didn't even want to think about him. To be precise, he was avoiding the other man. There were times when they walked past each other, but he chose to avoid those dazed eyes without paying attention.
Was he angry? Yeah... he was pissed.
But there wasn't much he could do when Tonowari had given his family a place to stay, which was considered a blessing.
A slender figure resembling a wildcat familiarly got on his ride. He lowered his eyebrows as the pain in his hips slowly increased. Although several days had passed, he was still as tormented as before.
Whoosh!
The large animal spread its wings and flapped its tail, accelerating over the water until he could hear the splash of formed clear waves.
That speed was enough to make him disappear out of the sight of who was watching.
"I didn't reach him in time."
"...I warned you, Tonowari," Ronal said softly before walking away, leaving the Olo'eyktan standing there. His ears formed a half-moon the color of the sea. Tonowari's weakness had decreased slightly at a time when no one noticed.
