the next morning, lea felt relatively level headed. she chugged a water bottle before bed so a gnawing bodily ache wouldn't come back to haunt her today.

she scrolled through some photos aliyah had taken of her yesterday, but only recalled a couple. apparently she took over fifteen photos and videos of sanna carrying alexa around and sprinting outside of the bar.

in the midst of getting ready for the day, lea went to grab her phone to post some photos onto her instagram. at the immediate reminder of yesterday, she searched up caitlin clark on the search bar. she didn't even bother clicking on her profile because all she could focus on was the outline of ombré pink and orange.

the first tap led her to a repost of her at training camp and the second tap almost made her outwardly gasp. it was the selfie they had taken last night. lea didn't remember being that close to her. they looked like a well established facebook couple. caitlin had tagged her and then added a little black heart. a sense of pride washed over her because their drunken picture together was somehow instagram worthy. she almost gagged when that thought popped into her brain.

her following went up by at least a thousand over night. there were a good twenty new comments under her latest post. they all had something to do with speculation about who the hell lea was. understandable. but if anyone bothered to scroll an inch down her profile, they'd see that she works for the wnba team caitlin is going to play on.

the more she ruminated on it, the black heart was odd. lea wasn't going to overreact like she did when she first met the woman. she wasn't going to call her friends or even text them about how much she was overthinking this. after all, black hearts usually signify sorrow.

in a whim, she selected two pictures to post from yesterday onto her account. the idea of being involved in rumors with one of the biggest athletes right now was not something she could handle right now. even though most people probably just skimmed right past that story. one of those pictures aliyah had taken caught calum in the back. obviously it isn't caitlin and for some reason they look close. so maybe if she posts it then people would think oh so this girl is in a relationship already and it's not with caitlin clark. duh. it's stupid reasoning but lea had already been pacing around her apartment for ten minutes.

as she waited for the post to finish uploading, she clicked on her notifications. right at the top, two blue checkmarks were above each other.

caitlinclark22 started following you.

katemartin started following you.

"the fuck?" lea muttered to herself, a short snort escaping her mouth.

she's not surprised by the caitlin one but almost gasped when she clicked on caitlin's profile and read follow back. so she followed her, feeling dumb because she wasn't already following. now caitlin probably thinks lea thinks she's too good to follow her or something.

although, the kate martin one had her staring off. she looked through her posts and she definitely plays basketball. she played with caitlin. there's a photo of them on the same college team, the university of iowa. she probably saw the story caitlin posted and followed her but it's still random. nonetheless, lea followed her back. she then saw that the post uploaded and threw her phone on the couch. she simply ignored the regretful feeling bubbling in her chest.
