ADMIST OUR HEARTS
Darkness
That was all Durrah could see and feel. There was nothing at all,she did not even know if she was in a dark room,a dark opening or a dark hole, there was just darkness.
She breathed in slowly and decided to listen for anything. There was no sound ,just pitch darkness accompanied by a loud silence, so,she moved. Her legs carrying to any direction or lack thereof, thinking there might be somethings at the end, she kept on walking into abysmal nothing.
Atlas, an object appeared ,a hospital stretcher with a body on it. That was when Durrah's alarm bells rang loudly and she instantly realized that this was another nightmare she was about to relive, she tried prying her eyes open to get away but the stretcher moved unbelievably fast till it got to where she stood.
Laying down there was her dead husband, his body battered and bruised but that was not what disturbed her the most,it was when the cold lifeless body pried its own eyes open and stared directly at her that she let out a piercing scream, one that resonated through the walls of her room.
She woke up frantically ,her breathe heavy and fast and her heart beating loudly against her rib cage as if it also wanted to escape from this nightmare. She immediately reached out for the bedside lamp and turned it on before scrambling out if her bed.
She moved to switch on the light when a light knock came through her door and Nadir's voice was heard "Dee,is everything okay?"
She sighed and unlocked her door then turned the knob open to reveal Nadir, his eyes full with concern "i heard a scream, are you okay?"
Durrah shook her head and breathed in,her shoulders slumped "i...i had a nightmare"
"Let me get you water" Nadir offered before turning on his heels and going down the hallway.
Durrah turned and sighed for the umpteenth time, she decided to go back to her bed, shut her eyes and sleep since the night was still very young but as she proceeded to her bed, she felt a light shiver, it felt like the darkness was out to get her. Despite her bed side lamp giving a little bit of illumination, the surroundings still scared her. So she ran back and switched on the light.
Nadir made an appearance immediately after with a glass of water in his hands, he led her back to her bed and gave her the glass, watching her gulp it slowly.
"Do..do you need me to stay over?" He asked hesitantlyDurrah simply nodded, right now the taught if being alone scared her.
"I'll take the couch" he said and she nodded yet again. After she gulped down the glass content,Nadir made her lay down before proceeding to the couch.Durrah snuggled herself into her covers and turned to face the direction of the couch were Nadir was. She closed her eyes and tried to get back to sleep but the feeling that Labeeb's dead body might be on the other side of the bed waiting for her turn made her shoot up immediately.
"Dee?"
"Nadir can you come please,to the bed" she begged almost in tears.
"Okay"
He stood up from the couch and headed to the other side of the bed.
