"She just screamed, 'help me,'" Silas confirmed, I nodded feeling a tightness in my chest.
Another cry came from the same direction and once again Matt pointed holding his breath momentarily in disbelief.
"Somebody's over there," I breathed, my stomach began twisting with a horrible gut feeling.
"I see you," a raspy male voice growled.
"Is there actually some, like, cult thing going on right now?" Silas looked nervous and our eyes bounced between one another hoping someone would throw out a better idea.
"Dude," I finally started, "I don't even know right now." The urge to run and get out dragged through my mind. We could all be in danger, but that poor girl was getting the worst of it. I ignored the urge and engaged back into the conversation and content creator mode.
"Alright, I'm only here to be the voice of reason," Matt started as he looked directly into the camera, "so that these guys don't do anything too stupid."
"Think about it," Ethan went into parent mode, "there is a group of people over there." his eyes didn't move from the general area.
"Group?" Silas asked as if he just joined the conversation.
"Yes, a group, multiple people." Ethan growled, voice shaking.
"Bro, I see their flashlights." I pointed as my panic returned.
We stood there terrified trying to think, then heard a man yell. Silas spoke, "Should we get out of here? Like deadass?"
Silas had always been our voice of reason, he was the brains of our operations, but I was a skeptic of nearly everything and this didn't make sense to me. Even though I was just as scared as Matt who was shaking from both the cold and fear and Ethan who just stood there watching everything around us, waiting for an answer to be made.
I decided to go with best case scenario then spoke, "I mean the door was open, so, anybody could be in here right now. Honestly, it's probably just a bunch of teenagers."
The boys and I decided that that's what it was, teenagers doing things they weren't supposed to be doing and wanting to scare others away. We proceeded down our path and Silas started talking again.
"We did also just read online that satanic rituals happen here, what if that's that group?"
I sighed, "It could be, but I think--" I paused and thought for a moment, not wanting to give false hope of anything I shrugged, "I don't know."
I knew where he was coming from, and I knew that we all needed to be cautious. I didn't want to be the one who promised that it would all be okay, and then it wasn't. Matt kept fidgeting staying as close to us as possible without stepping on our heels. He pointed back towards the group paranoid.
"You can see them moving. Those shadows right there, it looks like they're dragging something." Matt's voice was cracking as he tried to sound calm and then added with a squint, "or someone."
Silas' head shot towards Matt as I ruffled my hair waiting for someone to speak to break the tension.
"You're psyching yourself out, we can't see them on camera, but—wait, let's get the other flashlights out." Silas spoke. "And if we need to let's break up—what?" He paused as my face twisted into surprise at his words.
"Nothing, we're just scared already," I took a deep breath in attempt to calm myself down.
Silas pulled the bag off his back and handed it to me then pulled out two flashlights, "we have two normal flashlights and the camera flashlight, we'll split them up in case we need to... part ways." he finished ominously.
