For a moment, I was shocked. It seemed as if that teacher had an obsession with me... Twice she did the same thing to me. That's when I went to the bathroom to clean my face. I couldn't help but look in the mirror and notice the two holes in my cheeks.
- Alex: That teacher is crazy... -I said.
I washed any trace of blood from my cheek and with some paper finished it drying. I proceeded to throw it in the trash and go back to my class. On the way to the place, I couldn't help but get a little nervous but I kept going. Just as I was going to open the door, I heard a scream.
- Miss Circle: NO, WRONG!
After the scream, the sound of a slap could be heard. So loud that it was heard even in the hallway. What the hell had happened? I opened the door and what I saw shocked me. I saw Skell with his back to the door covering his right cheek. He slowly turned towards me and what I saw left me speechless. Skell was shaking with tears all over his face. I looked at him very worried. Suddenly, Miss Circle addressed me.
- Miss Circle: Sit down... No questions... Quick!
I hurriedly went and sat down at my place next to Nia. She was white as she witnessed what was happening.
- Miss Circle: Again, come on, repeat it -she exclaimed towards Skell, who was holding the chalk with one hand.
Skell erased the previous erroneous result and entered a new one while Miss Circle looked at him with a devilish smile on her face. Miss Circle looked at the result for a moment and then looked at Skell. Then, she slapped him again, but on the other cheek. Skell fell to the ground and the chalk flew. He couldn't stop crying inconsolably while he was lying face down on the floor. Everyone in class looked at the scene with fear... Everyone except Nia and me. At that moment, Nia looked at me, grabbed my cheek, and snapped my head around. As she did so, she realized that I had another hole.
- Nia: Another thumbtack, right? -she asked and let go of my cheek immediately.
- Alex: Nia... I...
- Nia: Leave it, I don't want to know. -she crossed his arms.
We saw how Skell got up from the ground badly hurt and continued crying.
- Miss Circle: Pathetic... You're not even worth a damn... Go back to your place, do something with your life... -she exclaimed.
Skell walked towards his place next to me very slowly. I could see the agony on his face as he walked towards us. He avoided eye contact with everyone until he sat down in his seat. That's when I looked at him for a moment.
- Alex: Skell... -I whispered.
- Skell: Please Alex... Shut up... -he said with a trembling voice and looking ahead.
I didn't bother him anymore... Putting myself in his situation, I understood him. In his situation I wouldn't want anyone to talk to me either but... I just wanted to help.
- Miss Circle: Well... Let's see... -she looked at me- YOU! You will solve the exercise. Come here! -she exclaimed towards me.
Skell didn't even want to look at me at that moment but... Nia gave me a worried look. That's when I got up and started walking towards the board. Miss Circle kept showing that evil smile. When I got to the blackboard, I grabbed a new piece of chalk, since the other one was lost after Skell's slap. Miss Circle placed the compass on top of her other hand and then walked over and stood looking directly into her eyes. She then she whispered to me.
- Miss Circle: If you fail the exercise, I will have a lot of fun with you.
Then I looked at the board analyzing the exercise. I was paralyzed. It was... A trigonometry problem. How the hell was I supposed to solve that? I was bad at mathematics. Then I put the chalk down on the blackboard again... I looked at Miss Circle and just responded.
- Alex: I don't know how to do it.
- Miss Circle: Oh! I love this... -she came close to my ear and whispered- we'll see each other at the end of class. You won't go to the playground until I say so -she leaned back- sit down.
I gave her a slight glance and walked towards my seat, then sitting down and placing my hands on my legs. Miss Circle corrected the exercise. Nia couldn't help but look at me. I was a little nervous. Then, without saying anything, she took one of my hands and gave it a light caress. I looked at Nia and smiled. Nia looked at me quite worried.
- Nia: Are you okay? -she asked.
- Alex: Yes... Don't worry, really. -my hand was shaking a lot.
- Nia: Your hand doesn't say the same... But if you say so... -she caressed my hand while we watched as Miss Circle corrected the exercise.
At that moment, the recess bell rang.
- Miss Circle: Come on little brats... Class is over... Except for you. -she pointed towards me with the edge of the compass.
Nia looked at me quickly as I watched her grab my hand.
- Miss Circle: You two, get out... Right now... -she exclaimed.
Then, Nia and Skell gathered their things, got up, and before leaving, Nia looked at me. I just smiled at her. Miss Circle pushed Nia out of class and locked the door. That's when Miss Circle approached our group of tables and kicked it to one side of her. She came closer and looked me straight in the eyes.
- Miss Circle: Let's play... -she let out an evil laugh.
