Trigger warning: torture (not super detailed i don't think)

question of the chapter: what's your favourite couple in the tvdu?

Astoria struggled to pull her eyes open, feeling like something was forcing them shut every time she tried. There was a bright light that causes a burning sensation in her eyes, and a pounding ache in her head. She tried to raise her hand to run at her eyes, but when she did, an unknown material that scratched at her wrists prevented her from pulling her hands away from each other.

Panicking, Astoria tried to pull her hands free, but they were bound together and she was unable to do so. She tried to stand up, only to learn that her ankles were bound as well. Her vision was still blurry so she couldn't see much. She could see dark walls, and a window to her right. But that was it.

Astoria tried to remember what had happened. She remembered getting fitted for dresses with Rebekah, then stepping outside for a moment. She heard someone call her alias, then everything was dark.

Astoria knew she had been taken, and although she was frightened, she knew being scared wouldn't get anywhere. She took a few deep breaths, blinking a few times in hopes of clearing her vision. The longer she was awake, the more of her vision came back to her. She glanced down at her feet, seeing a rope tying her to the legs of the chair she was sitting on. She glanced around the room she was in. It looked like the entrance to a cabin. The walls were dark and made of wood. There was one window which Astoria could see out of. She didn't see much except for the trees that blocked the sight of anything else.

She could see a red door in the corner, likely leading outside. If only she had a way to get to it. Katherine taught her how to handle situations like this. But being taught something and practicing it were two different things. Right now, she needed more information. She needed to know who she was up against.

The sound of a door opening caused Astoria to close her eyes, letting her head fall a bit to pretend like she was still unconscious. Whatever they had planned for her could be delayed if they thought that she was unconscious.

"I can tell that you're awake," She heard a man say to her, causing Astoria to open her eyes.

She didn't recognize the man. He was tall and slim, with grey shaggy hair and a beard that matched. He spoke with a thick French accent. Astoria didn't see any jewelry on him, but he was able to be outside in the sun which meant that he likely wasn't a vampire. Witches tended to work with each other, especially in New Orleans, and there was no one around.

"What is it that you need?" Astori inquired almost immediately."Who are you?"

"Who I am is not important," He shook his head, closing the door behind him and taking a few steps towards Astoria. He dropped what looked like firewood wrapped in a cloth onto the floor beside her. She didn't know why he would need firewood. It wasn't hot outside, but it wasn't cold enough to require that.

"That is not the only question I asked," Astoria reminded him sharply.

"You are not in charge here," He snapped at her suddenly, grabbing the back of her head and pulling her hair back, forcing her head to tilt upwards towards him. Astoria winced, but didn't make a sound.

"You want something from Klaus then," Astoria assumed. That was the most logical explanation. He didn't take her just to hurt her, there was something more to it.

"Klaus, no, I do not care about Klaus," He answered, surprising Astoria. If it wasn't Klaus, she didn't know what he could want. Astoria had no enemies of her own, she had nothing to give.
