John stepped out of his car the following day, and took a deep breath. "40 more years of this crap and I can retire..." John walked towards the office building and opened the doors. "Morning everyone..." John mumbled to his co-workers as walked inside. "Morning..." A few workers mumbled back. John sat in his cubicle chair and turned on his computer. Before he could even open his documents, he heard someone running towards his workspace calling his name. "Hey John! John! Quick, tell me everything!" Marilyn sat on his desk and smiled brightly. "There's no a lot to tell..." Marilyn waved it off.
"Of course there is! What happened last night at the casino?" John sighed. "Nothing much, we had some drinks, he got drunk, he dragged me across a street just so we could get to a nearby night club, and the rest is history." "Did you kiss him?" John's heart ached at that question, and he put a hand to his chest. "No, not really." She rolled her eyes and groaned. "Seriously?" John nodded. "I guess he's not into that kinda stuff..." Marilyn shrugged. "It was worth a try. See you later John."
She walked into the staff room and John continued with his work.'Should I try going back to the casino?' John thought to himself. 'Maybe he's still interested...' John thought to himself as he typed on his computer. 'Yeah... I'll go back and see what happens.' John grinned to himself stood up. "I need coffee..."
John sipped from his coffee cup as John's boss and another man stepped in the room. "Morning John. Have you met Phil?" The other man waved shyly. "Nice to meet you, John." John nodded. "Nice to meet you too, Phil." "See? You two are getting along great. Talk to you later." John's boss walked out and Phil rubbed his forehead. "Can you keep a secret, John?" John raised an eyebrow. "Sure. What is it?" Phil leaned closer to John. "The boss hired me for my body." John's jaw dropped. "Excuse me? I remember my boss being straight." Phil shook his head frantically. "Nope! He uses me as a stress reliever." John felt like he was about to vomit. "So instead of the boss taking a coffee break or getting some fresh air outside, he'd rather sleep with you?" Phil nodded sadly. "I feel awful, Phil. But there's not much I can do about it-" "No John, you did do something about it. You actually listened to my problems. It makes me feel better when I talk to someone. Not a lot of people have time for that it seems." John shrugged. "Yeah, we're pretty busy around here. I'm glad I could be in service." Phil smiled. "Plus, I can't do anything about it either. The boss pays me well. But at least I blew off some steam." "Yup. It was nice talking to you, Phil." "Same to you, John."
"Did I just have a pleasant conversation with someone?" John was confused. He never really talked to anyone at his job. Only if he needed something. "I guess talking to A.J will be pretty easy now." John felt proud of himself as he walked down the hallway. Yet in the distance, a co-worker watched him with tear stained eyes.
