Chapter 3: Darkness Rising Pt. 3

It was morning in Nevada's desert and a hot morning it was. However, with the cool breeze blowing through, today would be a pretty good day. Bumblebee was in his alternate, parked somewhere in the desert. Inside, Raf and him were competing in a racing video game. Bumblebee connected to Raf's game and put it on the screen to play.

Raf fiddles with his controller while Bumblebee uses his wheel to control the cars. Raf was glad to find someone interested in playing with him. Especially since the person he usually plays with was... unavailable. The worst part was that he didn't know why or how. Getting caught up in his thoughts, he tried to make a risky move in the game.

Immediately, Bumblebee hit his car into Raf's and Raf's car spun out of control! It crashed into the side, ending the game. Raf was surprised before letting out a defeated whine. Bumblebee whirred in excitement, bragging a bit from the win. Raf laughed, looking at Bumblebee's wheel with a smile.

"Haha! No fair, Bumblebee! You've been driving a lot longer than I have!" Raf said. Bumblebee buzzed multiple times, mostly talking about how good he was at the game still. Suddenly, a buzz and a ding came from Raf's phone, causing them to stop. A streak of hope came through Raf as he quickly pulled his phone out. He opened it, a smile beginning to form until he saw it was just a notification for a game.

Raf groaned, disappointed as he placed away his phone. He sighed, turning to look out the window. Heidi hadn't responded in days which was very unlike Heidi. Whenever someone texted her, she was always quick to respond or at least would call them back the same day. Bumblebee must have noticed his silence and sadness.

Bumblebee let out multiple buzzes and whirls, asking Raf what was wrong. Raf turned to him, pausing before letting out a sigh. He pulled out his phone again, pulling up a picture of him and Heidi together. As he stared at it, he began to explain to Bumblebee.

"It's my best friend. She usually responds to me but she hasn't talked to me in the past few days. I went to her house but her mom said she wasn't there. She didn't even come to school yesterday. It's like she...vanished." Raf explained, feeling sadness and worry blossom again. Bumblebee buzzed multiple times curiously, causing Raf to look up.

"Uh, yeah. Here." Raf said, holding up his phone to the rearview mirror. It turned towards him, looking at the photo of Raf and Heidi. Bumblebee buzzed in surprise, beeping and whirring multiple times as Raf looked at him in shock.

"Wait, you know her?!" Raf asked, pointing at the photo. Bumblebee buzzed in agreement before beeps and whirls came out, explaining to Raf. Raf's eyes widened in shock as he realized the truth. He looked at the photo, staring at Heidi's face. Everyone has their secrets but he would've never guessed Heidi was hiding something this huge!

"Done," Ratchet said, finishing Cliffjumper's repairs. While he looked new again, he was still unconscious in the medbay. It was silent with no one else being present. Optimus was working somewhere else in the base and The others were with their newest additions. Ratchet grumbled at the thought of having more children and loud noises with them. However, secretly, he had been fairly worried about one noise maker.

"Cliffjumper and her couldn't stay safe, could they? If they had listened, they wouldn't be in this mess." Ratchet grumbled, turning away. Though he was grumpy, he was secretly more worried than anything. He just hoped Heidi would be okay and get home safe in the end. After a moment, he began walking over to the table where his equipment was, trying to distract himself.

"Thank goodness for peace and quiet," Ratchet mumbled, stopping at the microscope. A sample slide with the purple residue was already lying inside, ready to be examined. Ratchet leaned down, peeking into the microscope as he mumbled.
