jordan bay was diagnosed with capgras syndrome at the age of twelve.

capgras syndrome is a delusion where the person who is close to the sufferer is seen as an imposter. the person is identical, but some how has been replaced.

meaning poor jordan, sees the people she holds dear to her heart, as imposters. fakes. they're all fake.

it all started with jordan's older sister, victoria. jordan and victoria had a really good relationship.

in jordan's twelve year old eyes, her sister was the world's greatest. that all had suddenly changed when victoria hadn't seen the same. victoria wasn't the same angelic, sweet sister jordan had knew. jordan had seen victoria from a different point of view.

"you're not victoria" jordan had spoke in her twelve year old voice.

"of course i am. are you okay?" victoria had responded, confused.

"no you're not. get out of my house and bring back the real victoria, you're a fake!"

"are you seeing things! i am victoria!"

"mommy! daddy! there's a stranger in the house! she's saying that she's victoria and i know she's not!"

quickly the parents had dashed up the stairs, worried that a stranger had snuck into their house, to rob them and harm their daughters. but the very scene before them wasn't what jordan had said. it was their daughters, sitting quietly on the carpeted floor. instead of their usual smiles and laughter it had been replaced by a glare from jordan and a confused look on victoria's face.

"sweetie, this is your sister victoria, you know that..." jordan's mother had told her.

jordan refused to believe it, she shook her head, side to side. "no it's not! she's a fake i'm telling you!"

victoria was confused and their parents were just as confused.

"so you don't feel comfortable with this 'fake' victoria?" her father asked.

jordan had nodded.

"we have to take her to the hospital, this isn't like her." her father mumbles.

they all had stared at victoria. her parents had quietly dismissed her then looked to jordan. their eyebrows were furrowed in curiosity and confusion. then they bombarded jordan with questions.

"you know that was your sister right?"
of course she knew.

"how did victoria seem like an imposter?"
victoria is usually bubbly and happy, that person was just looking and acting like victoria.

they slightly brushed the problem off, seeing as this was the first time it's happened. but then, they took jordan to their family doctor, immediately when the same event reoccurred.

in that room the doctor had given mr. and mrs.bay the news. jordan had developed capgras syndrome and that was her diagnosis. the couple didn't really know what that was, fortunately the doctor had explained to them exactly what it was.

"it's a rare syndrome, a mental disorder, where the person who is close to the sufferer is somehow replaced as an identical imposter." the doctor had spoken in a calming voice that day.

jordan's parents were new to this. their youngest child has a mental disorder. they were still a bit confused. in their family lines, the only genetic thing each parent could've possibly passed down was sickle cell, but jordan hadn't got it. so how could their healthy daughter, suddenly get a disorder.

they had asked many questions, like 'will jordan go through breakdowns?' and 'are there any medications to help jordan?' and 'will jordan be able to grow out of this?' their doctor, had of course responded to all questions.

they had to develop a new life, a new life that with function to jordan's new disorder. it was going to be odd to create something new, something different, just so jordan won't see others differently. but somehow mr. and mrs.bay made it happen.

jordan bay had a pretty rough start to capgras syndrome, but she's gotten used to it, it's like her way of life. her new way of life, it's pretty tough and confusing, but so is jordan so she could handle it.

[[ a/n : oKAY. this is my first story. basically it's about a girl who has this mental disorder that i will not be explaining here because it is explained many times and basically michael is her close friend and she sees him as an imposter. to be honest i think my writing is shit, but you people might think differently. i seriously hope you enjoy this!! -resa ]]
