Ashley watched Emery and Ethan holding hands in the school's hallway. They've been doing that for three days now and Ashley was sure it wasn't because one of them was scared of crowds. As far as Ashley was concerned, people din't peck each other when they're scared of something. They couldn't be dating though, because Emery had clearly told her that she liked girls. Maybe Ashley severely misinterpreted their conversation. Maybe they were talking about Music. Or Emery had lied to her. Why would she lie about that though? If it doesn't make any sense. Ashley didn't know why she cared so much, but she did. And she would confront Emery about it.
As soon as the lunch break started, Emery and Ethan would be seen together, walking to the cafeteria hand in hand. Ashley quickly caught up to them and pulled Emery aside.
"Wha-" Emery started. Ashley shoved her into the bathroom. Thats where all the good stuff happened. That's what one of Ashley's previous friends told her anyways.
"Are you and Ethan dating?" Ashley questioned the girl.
Emery smirked "Yeah."
"I thought you were lesbian?"
"I am."
"Lesbians can't date guys!"
Emery cocked an eyebrow and placed her hands at her sides. "Oh yeah?" She winked "Watch me."
With that, the girl flipped her hair, hitting Ashley in the face with it. She then paraded out of the bathroom as if she just won a hair-flipping competition.
The confusion Ashley felt at that moment was beyond any confusion anyone else had ever felt. It was overwhelming. Ashley snorted. Then, she started cackling at the absurd situations she had found herself in and at her friend's weird antics. As amusing as it all was, something still didn't sit right. Emery couldn't just date someone. Well, she could, it's her life, but Ashley didn't want Emery to date someone. Then again, she was dating a guy. She didn't know why Emery dating someone was bothering her so much. It's not like she liked her. Maybe she did a bit. No, Ashley thought, I don't.
She stepped out of the bathroom and spotted Cole aimlessly wandering around.
"Aren't you supposed to be at lunch?" She asked.
"I'm looking for my Chemistry folder." He sighed "The one time I actually do my homework, it disappears. That's a sign, right?"
"Sure. Where did you see it last?"
"On my desk." Cole recalled. His expression blanked for a second. "Oh...Crap."
Ashley wondered how the poor guy had survived for this long. He probably wouldn't have if it wasn't for Ethan. An idea suddenly came to her.
"Hey, Cole?"
"Yeah?"
"Wanna go to the movies with me tomorrow night?" It was a bad idea and Ashley didn't even know why she was doing it.
"What movie?"
"Uh, do you like Ghostbusters?"
"Yeah!" Cole's eyes lit up. "I won't pay, though."
"Don't worry about it, just meet me at the theatre at 7."
"You bet!" Cole grinned and scurried away.
Ashley didn't know what Emery was playing at, but whatever it was, Ashley was gonna play along. And she was going to win...or something like that.
