Alira had an amazing day. It wasn't just because she gained over two thousand new Instagram followers overnight—mainly due to a photo exchange and comments with Daniel at the café, leading his fans to speculate that they were dating. His fans were simply thrilled that he was back on social media and wanted something interesting in his life, so they imagined that the girl he had known for a few days was the best way to lift his spirits after the accident.

No, her joy came from something else. Instagram didn't matter much to her, and she mostly posted pictures of zoo animals to promote her home, her family, and attract visitors if they ever found themselves in Perth with a free day. She also posted interesting animal facts on her stories. Until now, she didn't have many followers. She didn't mind; she never cared much about social media and didn't have as much time for it as others. She spent all her time with the animals, not on social media.

Her happiness stemmed from today's date. It was a special day for many caretakers at the zoo, and Alira couldn't wait to witness what was about to happen. Today, a new giraffe that had arrived from the Melbourne Zoo a month ago was to join the herd. Due to various diseases, it had to stay in quarantine for a month. This was standard procedure with every animal. The zoo did this to prevent any potential diseases that the new animal might have from spreading to their animals. It was better to have one sick animal than ten.

The release was scheduled for four in the afternoon. The clock had just struck three, so she had an hour before she would go see how the other giraffes would accept the newcomer. She hoped they would accept it and not bully it. Once they got a giraffe that the herd didn't accept, and they had to sell it to another zoo and get a new one. Those were terrible months when no one knew what would happen next.

How to kill time that flows so slowly it hurts? By talking with visitors, of course. Alira took one of the lemurs on her shoulder and went out among the people to make them happy. Trevis was used to these little outings. He was one of the oldest lemurs, so he was accustomed to the influx of people who would immediately gather around them. He was also used to people touching him when Alira offered them the chance to take a photo with him. Of course, the photos weren't free—the zoo needed to earn money in other ways than just tickets, refreshments, and souvenirs. So occasionally, a keeper would go out with an animal, and people could pay to take a picture with it.

Alira didn't like it. She would prefer to do it for free because joy from animals shouldn't have a price, but she understood that the zoo had to make money somehow. Just ticket sales and food wouldn't generate enough revenue. The zoo would quickly go bankrupt. Fortunately, she found a small loophole in this, and every day one person could take a photo for free if they asked an interesting question during the lemur feeding. At first, the zoo director was against it, but when he saw how many people came to watch her feedings and how many traveled from various parts of Australia just to see the entertaining Alira in person, he approved it.
