Tengen's Pov
The night sky was a captivating spectacle, with the moon gracefully hanging low, radiating the borrowed luminescence of the sun. Stars slattered the celestial expanse, enhancing the view with their shimmering presence. I cast a glance toward Tanjirou, who was perched beside me on the rooftop, his gaze fixed upon the star-strewn tapestry of the night sky with an air of profound admiration. (Don't ask why I suddenly used complex words ig, it kinda randomly popped into my head) Looking back up into the sky, I decided to speak.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" I said calmly. (This is a joke btw 😭😭 I don't ship Tegen and Tanjirou, it's just cursed- also this would've been Rengoku but I kinda forgot he was dead in this timeline (season four). R.I.P the goat) He responded with the same amount of enthusiasm infused with his voice everytime he speaks.
"I agree with you, Mr Uzui!"
We sat there in silence for a moment, taking time to stargaze. A sudden recollection hit me with the force of a lighting strike. I said that one day I'd show Tanjirou my Shinobi skills. What better time to do it then now? I dug into my pocket and pulled out a shuriken that I keep on me on a daily basis, and showed it to him.
"With this, I'm going to show you why I'm the king of flashiness!" I stated, "You see that tree over there?" I pointed at the oak tree estimating about 1km away. "I'm going to throw this, and it's going to land at the bottom of the tree, right in the center." With these words coming out of my mouth, I threw it with precision and it landed perfectly where I was aiming at. In the distance, I heard a small cut sound. The sound of the shuriken sinking into the tree sounded wrong. Very wrong. I decided not to think much of it. I turned to look at Tanjirou, and his face said that he knew something was wrong too, but he didn't say anything about it.
"Your majesty, King of Flashiness, that was amazing!" His voice never lost its joy in it.
We talked for about two hours on the rooftop, and shared some laughs with each other. It was mostly about training, and how much stronger Tanjirou has grown. He'll definitely become a Hashira one day. Though at times, he seemed to have a sense of guilt within him as we continued to socialise with each other, and I have no idea why. Now that we decided that we should start heading to our quarters, we jumped down from the roof and started walking back to our living quarters. (Idk where Tanjirou resides in, the butterfly mansion?)
Tanjirou's Pov
Uzui invited me to go stargazing with him tonight, I'm very excited, hopefully he'll show me his skills today! The sun set, and soon darkness spread across the sky. I read the clock on my table, and it was 6:30pm. Perfect time to start walking.
Arriving what I think is about 5 minutes early, I could smell Giyuu-san's scent floating through the air. His presence seemed far but not too far. Maybe around 1km away?
~Time skip
"With this, I'm going to show you why I'm the king of flashiness! You see that tree over there? I'm going to throw this, and it's going to land at the bottom of the tree, right in the center."
I watched with starry eyed as he threw the shuriken at the exact spot he described, it left me astonished. The sound of the shuriken digging into the bark doesn't sound right. It sounds like human flesh getting torn apart. I covered my mouth, while blood drained from my face, leaving me pale. My eyes widened when the sudden smell of blood met my nose. I'm not sure if it hit a demon or a human. Please don't be impaled inside a mortal being right now, please. Mr Uzui hasn't noticed my face yet, so I tried to act as normal as I could.
"Your majesty, King of Flashiness, that was amazing!"
He smiled widely, but I knew he thought the same thing about the way the shuriken sunk into the tree. We continued talking as if nothing happened, and when we decided to return to our quarters, I glanced in the direction of the tree feeling heavy hearted. I could've helped that person. There's a chance it was a demon though, but I can't live with myself if it wasn't.
Giyuu's Pov
I decided to go outside for a short walk, and brought a book along with me just incase I get bored. Finding a tree to rest under, I dropped down and sat there while opening my book. It was a book bought by Urokodaki-san, and he had let me borrow it for amusement purposes. Now with my sharpened eyesight, I was able to see the words on each page flawlessly. My ears started to pick up people speaking in the distance, and as I listened in, I realised those voices belong to Uzui and Tanjirou.
About 10 minutes later, Uzui's voice could be heard booming in the distance.
"With this, I'm going to show you why I'm the king of flashiness! You see that tree over there? I'm going to throw this, and it's going to land at the bottom of the tree, right in the center."
He pointed in my direction, and I thought lightly of it. He could be thinking of another tree, but is accidentally pointing at the one I'm currently resting under. I transferred my gaze of Uzui to my book, my eyes scanning and reading each word written in it. Not caught by surprise, a shuriken came flying rapidly at my face, and I didn't bother to block it as it sunk into my forehead. Blood leaked and flowed out of my head like a waterfall, and I just left it there. I'll take it out once I finish this book.
I think 2 hours have already passed, and I heard Uzui and Tanjirou leap off of the roof they were on. Coincidentally, I had just finished reading the last sentence in this book, and I faced the sky while summarising the entire story. (Is it just me or do I do that?) Satisfied, I proceeded to pull out the shuriken like nothing, and just tossed it aside while blood poured out. The incision it had made regenerate in less than a second, making it seem like it never injured me in the first place. On second thoughts, I'm gonna keep this shuriken and return it to Uzui when I see him tomorrow.
Shinobu's Pov
I swear, Uzui's voice can be heard from a mile away. I can't focus on my research at all, my mind is just filled with his voice intruding my thoughts and killing them.
It's already an hour, I'm on the verge of storming outside to give them a piece of my mind. No, I need to finish this by tonight and report everything to Oyakata-Sama tomorrow.
Another hour has just passed, and I can't take it anymore. I kicked my door down, and opened my mouth to start yelling at him to quiet down. But at that moment, he stopped talking and turned to Tanjirou before hopping down from the roof he was situated in. Thank god, now I can finally finish my work in peace. My eyes shifted North-East, and the sight almost made me gag. It was Tomioka-san, sitting motionless under a tree with a shuriken embedded in his head. Hold on, he's still turning the pages of his book, he's not dead?
As I continued to spy on him, he closed his book and casually pulled the ninja star out of his head. Wait what? My eyes are definitely playing with me. How is he still alive and standing with that much blood lost? I couldn't see very clearly in the dark, but the cut the shuriken made in his head completely disappeared in a blink of an eye. That's most definitely regeneration. Well, it's confirmed now that Tomioka-san is a demon. I have to inform Oyakata-Sama about this.
About to leave my estate, a pair of strong hands pulled me back; one wrapped around my neck, the other covering my mouth.
Tomioka-san.
