Saturday Night
I arrived at the campfire scene. I parked in the gravel along with multiple other cars. It was unusually hot, the kind of hot that makes you angry. I stepped out of my car and locked my doors. The crowd in the parking lot was insane, I thought for sure everyone would be around the fire. I maneuvered my way through the crowd of humans to get to the fire. I stood in the middle of the field, my eyes searching for Malia. I saw the DJ booth, the drinking booth, the firework booth, but no Malia.

"Hey, don't I know you?," I heard a manly voice over my shoulder.

"No. No you don't.," i replied short, facing away without eye contact.

"A good looking drink for a good looking girl," some random man came from behind me, shaking the cup in my face.

I turned to face him, and stated a stern "No thanks," clearly.  He insisted, "come on, I put hard work into this,"

"And that's exactly why it should go in the trash," I sarcastically smiled and turned my back to him. He quickly stepped in front of me.

"She said no Josh.," a familiar voice appeared from nowhere. Josh? Maybe I do know you. "She's mine, so scram". I was bright eyed as I saw Malia move towards me.

"Hey lady!," Malia greeted me.

"She's mine?," I joked.

"Well, right now you are," she laughed. I joined in.

"Well shit, let's dance," Malia smiled, pulling me closer to the crowd near the fire.

The DJ absolutely knew what he was doing. The music was majestic, I could feel every beat beneath my feet. It felt so good to get out and be a normal teen. I had Malia to thank, between heartbreak and hard work, she was my sanity.

Malia and I danced. The heat caused us to remove our tops, showing off our bras. Malia grabbed my waist pulling me into her person, our trickling sweaty bodies collided as we swung to each beat of the song. My eyes were closed, I waved my hands and bounced around. I felt so light on my feet,  and I had not thought about one thing. This was a feeling I didn't want to leave.

In the midst of the song change, I glance behind Malia's head. A shooken look appeared upon my face.  I tell myself, "it's fine, it's in your head,".

Malia cups a hand on my face, "hey are you okay?," she looked concerned. I kept glancing back and forth between her eyes and what was behind her.  She raised her eyes in curiosity. I felt my breathing get heavy, and I quickly got nauseous.

"Yeah, yeah. I just- I need to-I need-yeah," I motioned. I walked away from Malia back to the middle of the field where the air was more clear. I saw Malia coming after me.

"Hey, what happened? Was it the smoke?," she asked me. Good guess. But no. I could've been high off smoke from the way I was acting, but no. I shook my head. "Was the music too loud? Are you not having fun? Did I do someth-," I cut her panicked voice off.

I was in love with the music. Each instrument and chord that flows with every voice. I was so grateful for the invite, and the fact that I had a friend who cared about me having a life outside of my life. I was having a load of fun, dancing with Malia. Moving in sync with her body pressed against mine.

I looked at Malia with hurt eyes, "-Malia, Tess is like right over there,"

She gasps, "you're kidding!," Malia snaps her head around to put her eyes on Tess. "And she brought him?  When you give a girl some class-,"

"-Malia. Watch it," I growl.

"Are you being serious?," Malia slightly shouted.

"Yes. Just relax," I petted her shoulder. She agreed with me but I know Malia and the look in her eye, told me that she was far from relaxed. "Now. What the fuck are we drinking," I evil grinned. I was going to need something for this.
