As soon as it was time to part ways, Pete immediately slipped into a nearby village and ended up spending a lot of boring days there – too little entertainment and too many old people. He then went to a nearby town – a place called "The Hollow", where no one had seen or known him yet, and where he could safely play the lost traveler in front of a couple of beautiful villagers. His plan had gone surprisingly well, and he was just leaving the bedroom of a young beauty. It was a small house consisting of one room – there was a double bed, a small table with two chairs, a wardrobe and a couple of bedside tables, as well as a place where you could make a fire.
"I'm so sorry for your friends," a stranger wrapped in a sheet stroked the young man on the back while he put on his pants.
"Friends?" it seems that he himself forgot what story he told in order to arouse pity for himself.
"Yes, I can't imagine what you had to go through watching them being torn apart by wolves"
Pete was glad that the girl was so accurate in her statements.
"Oh, yes..." his voice took on a very sad note. "Thanks to you, I even managed to distract myself from this nightmare..."
The stranger pursed her lips and sat up, hugging the guy by the shoulders and putting her head on him:
"Are you sure you have to leave the city so soon?"
"I'm sorry, dear, but I just have to find the remains of my friends to bury them, following all the customs"
"How brave and noble you are!"
"Well, what can I do..." he tried to remove the girl's hands from himself to get up, but he could not remember her name.
At the same moment, the front door began to open. Pete immediately cast a puzzled glance at his companion – panic was reflected on her face.
"Who is this?"
"Oh no, I think it's my husband...."
"Your what?!" The guy asked in shock, grabbing all his clothes.
"I thought he wouldn't be back until the evening!"
Before Pete could do anything, the door opened and the silhouette of a huge, tall man with a beard appeared in the doorway. When he saw his wife in bed with some young boy, he immediately turned purple with anger and went to him:
"Isabella, what's going on here?!"
Pete jumped up from his seat, reassuring the man:
"Sir, really, let's not rush... We'll explain everything to you now..."
"I'll explain everything to you right now!"
He lunged at Pete, but somehow Pete managed to dodge, after which he rushed towards the exit. At this time, the girl continued to huddle on the bed, covering herself with sheets and excitedly watching what was happening.
"Goodbye, Isabella!" The young man shouted after her, running out into the street in his pants.
"Goodbye, Nestor!"
The man continued chasing Pete, and Pete had to jump over several fences and cross a couple of pastures with cows and pigs. An unknown person shouted various unflattering words at his back, while passers-by looked at this spectacle with smiles and chuckles. Finally, after running a good half of the city, Pete managed to outrun his pursuer. He stopped at a small well on the outskirts and drank water from there, and also rinsed his face a little. Two young girls, passing by him, immediately giggled, and then he winked at them, causing even more embarrassment.
