Chapter 8: A New Beginning

It's been a week since Muzan was defeated. Ever since that day, many happy and sad tears were shed between demon slayers, especially with the following news of the Demon Slayer Corps being disbanded after the battle has ended.

"A new era has come... a new beginning where everyone can start again."

Mituska is currently siting in her living room praying to the Buddha statue at the once was the Gemstone Hashira Estate. But now, it is just her humble home.

While praying this time, her heart felt more calm and at peace. A feeling that she longs for and thought would never come.

As she prays, she begins to remember all the faces of her follow hashiras that lose their lives in the battle. She takes in a deep breath closing her eyes and prays for them all. She smiles knowing that they are in a better place now and can finally rest.

"Please rest now. The war is now over ."

As Mitsuka quietly pray. The sound of her dogs barking can be heard from the distance as the sounds of footsteps follows right after. She opens her eyes slowly turning over to see Tengen, Maiko, Suma, Hinatsuru, Giyuu and Sanemi, who are walking over to her. In their hands are lunch boxes. She then realizes that she has been praying all morning and now it's almost lunch time.

Her eyes lights up to see all three of them at her home. She reaches for her cane, before slowly getting up since her wounds are still fresh. Seeing that, Sanemi quickly put his lunch boxes on the table before rushing over to her and stops her.

He has a worried look on his face, "you shouldn't be moving around too much Mitsuka. You're really injured you know."

She smiles at him as she nods, "I am okay."

Giyuu can tell that Mitsuka was hiding the pain that she is feeling under her smile. He looks at her body, more specifically her right leg. Losing her right leg during the battle must have been hard for her to get around. Let alone taking care of herself or her garden.

Mituska takes Sanemi's hand with her one free hand, "thank you". Her action cause Sanemi's face to get a bit red.

Tengen watches as Sanemi helps Mitsuka over to sit down by the table in her living room. Ever since the battle, he notice a shift in Sanemi. A good shift. Especially seeing how he is getting quite close to Mitsuka. Over the past week, while he takes care of Mitsuka with his wives, Tengen notice that Sanemi have been coming over to visit Mitsuka and checking in on her often. He would even make her some pounded rice cake with sweet soy sauce whenever she asked for them or is craving them. What made Tengen surprise what the fact that Sanemi even started taking care of her garden for her since Mitsuka couldn't. It was as if he was making himself a home and Mitsuka seems to not mind it at all as well as they both cope about the loss of their younger sister and bother.

Seeing them both interacting happily brought a smile to Tengen's face.

Tengen wasn't sure if something happened during the battle that pushed them to be closed. But whatever it is, he is gald that it pushed them closer together.

Tengen walks over to join Mitsuka and Sanemi. He notice Giyuu just standing there staring at blankly again. Tengen sigh and calls him over, "Giyuu! Come sit with us! Or you won't get to have any of the food!"

"Huh?. I am coming."

Giyuu goes over to them placing the lunch boxes on the table as well. Once everyone is seated, Sanemi goes to sit down next to Mitsuka.

Tengen begins to pass their lunch boxes to each of them. Mituska happily takes her lunch box and opens it. The food looks so good, too good. It's as if they are celebrating something. Something tells Mitsuka that this was more than just a lunch date between all of them. Mitsuka can't help but ask, "is everything okay Tengen?"
