Mornings were always a chaotic time for the Malik-Styles family, but today had been extra challenging even for them. For starters, Harry and Zayn had slept right through their alarm, and if it wasn't for Niall's internal alarm clock, it was very likely they wouldn't have awakened in time for Louis's graduation ceremony. Because of that, they had to get the three kids ready and leave the house in record time, which also proved to be quite stressful.
Harry didn't know if it was Liam's preteen hormones or something else, but dealing with him that morning had required a lot of patience from both Harry and Zayn. It had taken them almost ten minutes to get Liam up, and once he was up, he was in a completely sour mood. All that to say, Liam had left the house without breakfast because, apparently, he wasn't hungry, which was something Harry was sure he was going to regret later in the day.
Thankfully, they had somehow managed to arrive on time. They kissed Louis goodbye and watched him join his classmates, then hurried to find seats in the auditorium. Surprisingly, it hadn't been too difficult; Niall just had to sit on Zayn's lap instead. And now, all they had to do was wait.
Harry let out a sigh of relief, leaning back in his seat. "I can't believe we actually made it."
Zayn chuckled softly. "Me neither. I think we never left the house that quickly."
"Papa, what time is the party?" Niall asked, looking up at them.
Zayn checked his watch. "It starts in about thirty minutes, Niall. We're just waiting for the ceremony to begin."
Harry glanced over at Liam, who was sitting quietly beside him. "You excited, Li?"
Liam just nodded, still looking half asleep. Harry chucked, rubbing his son's back. "We can see that, buddy."
Niall fidgeted slightly on Zayn's lap. "Can I have a snack, Papa?"
Zayn shook his head gently. "We didn't bring any snacks, Ni. We'll have something after the ceremony, okay?"
Niall pouted but nodded. "Okay, Papa."
Just then, Liam leaned over to Harry. "Dad, I need the restroom."
This time, Harry actually had to take a deep breath. He had warned the kids, more than once, to use the toilet before leaving the house so this wouldn't happen. "Can't you wait, Liam?"
Liam shrugged, looking unsure, but didn't say anything more.
Throughout the next few minutes, Zayn and Harry made small talk with a few of the parents they knew. It was about fifteen minutes before the ceremony began that Harry noticed something was off. Liam had beads of sweat on his forehead and had his arm wrapped protectively around his stomach.
Frowning, Harry leaned closer to the boy and whispered in his ear, "Are you feeling alright, bud?"
Liam would kill him if he drew unnecessary attention to him. Ever since the boy had turned ten last month, he had become a lot more independent and self-conscious, so Harry definitely knew he wouldn't like all that probing.
"I wanna go to the restroom, " Liam replied again.
"Alright," Harry nodded and turning to his husband, added, "I'll take Liam to the restroom."
"Just don't take too long," Zayn said, looking at his watch.
Harry gave him a reassuring nod. "Come on, Li."
Harry guided Liam through the crowd, carefully maneuvering around people as they made their way to the restroom. When they arrived, they were met with a line. Liam whined softly, shifting uncomfortably.
