f it was up to Wyscen, she'd have lived in the clouds instead.

She'd be above the storms, above the rain and snow.

And at night,

She'd lay on a blanket of clouds softer than cotton, gazing at the stars and connecting the constellations.

"Wake up, Wysc."

A familiar voice called out to the girl.

One she'd been dreaming of in complete darkness for the last two nights.

"It's too hot..." The girl mumbled.

"Is that a challenge?"

The voice hummed.

"Jack..?" Wyscen uttered, searching for him in the darkness she'd been stuck in for the last three days. "I can't see you."

"Open your eyes, stupid."

If Wyscen's mind wasn't hazy, she would have strangled the voice.

"Come on, Wysc. Wake up."

.
.
.

It was dazzling.

Sparkling.

Wyscen blinked a few times, her eyes adjusting to the lights hitting them.

"Hey."

The girl raised her head toward the voice.

Jack grinned at her.

With that damn arrogant grin he always wore whenever he appeared out of nowhere and intentionally frightened her.

With those winter blue irises full of mischief and magic.

"Jack..?" Wyscen raised her hand and touched his face.

The boy froze at the warmth of her fingertips.

At the way her eyes welled up with tears.

And the way her smile was still brighter than the stars around them.

"Oh, Jack!" Wyscen pushed herself to embrace the boy.

He remained unmoving, hands held up.

"I'm so sorry!" The girl cried. "I was mean and stupid and—and it wasn't your fault!"

"Wysc, I—"

"Oh, Jack, how could I have ever thought it was your fault!"

"Look—"

"I don't blame you at all! You—"

Jack cut her off with his arms around her waist and head on her shoulder.

"I missed you," he breathed out, fingers tangling in the girl's hair. "I missed you so much."

Wyscen sniffled, burying her head in his horrendous frost-covered poncho. "I missed you too. I missed you so much, it's embarrassing."

"Lucky you," Jack chuckled. "I've got time."

"I thought you were Noe when he was examining me and I hit him!" The girl told, laughter bubbling out with her words.

"Lucky me," the boy whistled, pulling the girl closer to him.

"I'm certain I dreamt of you dropping me from the sky!"
