The Beginning

Sabre

I was walking in the woods to get some fresh air since I do live close to one, when suddenly my phone started ringing in my pocket. 'Who's calling me at this time?' I asked myself since the time right now is early in the morning.

"Hello?" "Hey Sabre!" I heard Lucas speak, "Why are you awake at this time?" I ask. "I woke up and couldn't sleep again, I should ask the same for you" he says, "Did you forget I have insomnia?" "Hehe, I guess."

I decided to sit down on the grass, leaning on the tree. "So how's the babysitting?" "Good actually, for the first time I didn't get food thrown at my face" I have just been recently hired to babysit for someone again, I have been doing this for 6 years now actually.

"Hah I still remember you called me to help the last time it happened!" he says laughing at my fails when it comes to feeding them, "Haha very fun-" I get cut of by the sound of branches snapping.

"Hang on I gotta check on something chief" I tell Lucas as I stand up to check it out, I followed where I heard it behind some foliage. But before I could react, "AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!" I fell into a hole. "SABRE!?" was the last thing I heard before everything went dark.

I then heard something like a portal and fell through it, I fall into some trees and land on the ground with a few scratches and bruises along with twisting my ankle during the landing.

"Ugh..." I look around seeing I was in a forest in the middle of nowhere and suddenly I saw a blue transparent figure behind some trees, "Hey! Can you help me get home?" I ask it but suddenly it dashes off to somewhere. "Hey wait!" I yelled as I try to keep myself upright while limping after it.

"Wait I just need hel~ and they went into a creepy place. Great." It looks like some sort of catacombs, I go in carefully and arrive at the bottom where there is apparently a tomb. "Great! It's a tomb!" I curse myself for following the thing here.

I saw a sign and it reads "The final door to a reality once known but sealed for eternity", 'Ok this is totally not creepy' I thought to myself. Suddenly lightning struck the tomb and a person with blue hair with streaks of black that is tied into a small ponytail, black eyes, blue jacket with a white shirt covered in black splotches underneath, dark blue jeans also covered in black splotches and dark brown boots appears on it.

They look at me and says "Beware of unleashing a reality that was long sealed by an ancient race of beings", I look at the being with wide eyes then looked at the stairs and tried to fast limp to it just to be blocked by it.

"Hey! Hey... Look I just wanna go up the stairs and try to find a way back home so please let me through mysterious blue and black person" I say to it to try and get it out of the way. "There is no escape from your fate" it says before it summoned lightning on me and my surroundings started to change.

I feel like I'm falling again and go through a portal, I then get shot out of the portal and hit by back against a wall. My vision becomes blurry and I suddenly see someone or something red I can hardly tell what they're saying but they look panicked.

'I guess I hurt myself that bad huh' I thought to myself, "Hey! Hey! Are you ok!?" each word gets clearer each time. "Ngh..." Was all I could do as a response, "Good your alive, c'mon. I'll take you to my bed" they say as I feel something pull on my arms then they put my arm around their neck as support for me.

We then walk towards a wall that suddenly opens up to bring us to another room of the person's house, we go into another room and he lets me lay down on a soft material which is probably a bed. "Feel better?" they ask me as I give a small nod.

"Good, stay here while I look for something to help you with your injuries" they say as the go out of the room and closes the door leaving me alone on a red bed. 'Who was that?' I ask myself as I drift to sleep.

I wake up to feel someone tending to my ankle, I open my eyes and looked over to the figure. They have bright red hair with braids going to the back of their head and tied into a bigger braid, A red cardigan with a white shirt underneath, a red scarf, orange flower pin in their hair, dark red baggy pants, and brown boots with red engravings.

"Oh! You're awake, how do you feel?" he ask as they finish the splint for my ankle, "Fine other than the back pain... Who are you and what are you? Not being rude ok" I added that last part since it did seem rude to ask that.

"Oh! My apologies, I forgot to introduce myself" he stands up so I could fully see him, "I am Red Steve but you can call me Ruby, and I am apart of a group of beings called Steves" he explains. I sit up and said "Well I'm Sabre, and I'm a human" "Nice to meet you Sabre" he extends a hand to me and I shake it.

"Do you have any other questions?" he asks, "Umm yeah, do you know how I could go back home?" he stares at the ground thinking. "Sadly I don't know how to open the portal so I'm sorry" "It's ok, well what do you Steves do?" his eyes then bright up. "Well us Steve have abilities, some unique to our color. And some common to all colors." he stops to let the information sink in for me.

"There are 7 colors and we each represent something. Red is wisdom, Orange is creativity, Yellow is energy, Green is health and nature, Blue is spirits, Indigo is connection, Violet is Love or you could say emotion" I look at him intently so I could figure this world out.

"Do you want to know our abilities?" I nod slightly, "Ok, so all colors can teleport and summon lightning just to clear that up. Reds have fire related abilities like fireballs, Oranges have higher fall resistance and can summon anything they could think of like houses they just prefer building by hand, Yellows have super speed and can make shields with their energy, Greens can make plants grow faster when their around an area for a long time and can heal other Steves, Blues live in the world beyond which is the afterlife for Steves and can summon and control water, Indigos live in the middle world where Steves can be judged whether they were good or bad and can create portals to other worlds they have connections with, Violets are very good at helping others with their problems and can make the area turn Violet if they stay for a period of time" he then finishes the explanation.

"So is that all you need?" he asks me, "Yeah thanks". "Well it's almost lunch do you need anything?" "What type of food you you have?" he pauses and says "I have beef, porkchops, carrots, apples, chicken and some water bottles" "I'll take some beef, apples and water please" "Sure!" he exits the room and closes the door behind him.

'That was interesting' I thought to myself, 'I hope Lucas is ok...' I took out a picture that luckily didn't fall out when I was falling. I then started to tear up and my blindfold soaks in my tears, I hold my pendant close since it's the only thing keeping my wings hidden. 'I don't think I should tell him, he might kick me out...' I then lay back down in the bed and start to drift off again.

"Thanks Ruby..."
