Right here on Mr Griffiths, railway director's railway, more and more loco-hauled services are being replaced by both DMUs, but the British Transport Commission (or BTC) have come to their final decision, that all the locos still active on Mr Griffiths' railway will all be withdrawn and scrapped by the end of the month, in order for people to have the last look before they're scrapped, like the incident with the Deltics, including Departmental, passenger, freight and mixed traffic locos. The community and the commuters all had a fear that this would one day happen.

Fellow company, Colas Rail, loaned 56115, and driver Alex Clark, to the W&BR to drag the old locos from Canton to Part Mart Recycling in Tir-y-Berth, they were sent there to be torn up, as they came face to face with the cutters torch, they were static displays outside the scrapyard for people to see the before they got destroyed. By the end of the week, most of them were gone. It was a sad sight, but it's the way of the future. The last batch were taken to scrap by 56115, before the last one was smashed up, he was face to face with the Hymek D7077, as he was on duty taking scrap from the yard to Port Talbot Steel Works. Kenneth Peacock, the driver, saw the whole process of BR Class 47, 47775 being torn up, which left the driver a little traumatised.

Back at the centre of attention, on the other hand, the railway wasn't the same, as it was only DMUs, like Classes 142, 143, 150, 153, 158, 175s. They all proved a success on all services and branch lines. But some units such as Class 143s were struggling on big inclines along the South Wales Mainline, so, in order for the train to reach its destination, they'd couple a Sprinter up to it.

All services such as the Flying Scotsman from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh and the Master Cutler service from Sheffield to London St Pancras, were replaced by diesel services, but as the 40s were unreliable, they were replaced by a Class 71, 71 014, and the Master Cutler replaced by a Class 85, 85 003. That's all for this story, how long do you think the locomotives will last before being replaced by Multiple Units? Find out in the next story.
