KAY AND ELLE didn't have enough time to change before going to the BAU, with JJ's insistence that it was an urgent case. And while their slightly dressy appearances didn't inform their colleagues that they were together, it certainly fueled other rumors, such as the ideas that Elle was on a blind date— something she had never done before— and that Kay was searching for a new job when, of course, neither of those rumblings were true at all.
In the twenty minutes between the coffee shop and the BAU, the duo's dynamics had also completely changed from that of an irritated pair of colleagues to that of a married couple of sixty years, still poking fun at each other with quick quips and laughing giddily every time the other spoke. In public was another story, however, with them attempting to conceal their involvement until they knew what exactly their involvement was.
When Kay entered the BAU, she immediately caught up to Spencer and Derek, a spark evident in her eyes as she watched Elle stride ahead of her. She could sense that Derek was already pestering Spencer about the game Kay sent him to with JJ, but she still proceeded with her own, more harsh way of questioning him. In a way, she wanted someone to talk to, either Spencer or JJ, about both of their budding relationships.
However, when she asked Spencer what happened, he immediately replied, "Top secret."
Derek was about to protest when, all of a sudden, a female agent approached the trio, grinning at him as she announced, "Derek, I put the transcript from the last prison interview on your desk."
"Okay. It wasn't classified rush. You could have sent it interoffice," Derek advised, looking over at her with the two geniuses exchanging a glance behind him.
