Kevin's eyes lingered out the window as he began to shudder, his hands trembling as a chilling wave of fear washed over his body. His mouth hung open. The man was gone. The man who had come back to his house was gone, and that could have only meant that he was going to—
He widened his eyes, and breathed heavily. "Shit, shit.. shit!"
He cursed. His eyes darted around the room as he slowly backed up. All noises around him seemed particularly more louder than usual, or at least more muffled. A shaky exhale escaping his mouth—he tried to let his eyes search for anything in the room that he could use. That he could use to defend himself, or to somehow prevent this man from getting inside.
..there was the nearby telephone on the table nearby.
Kevin swallowed, feeling his skin become numb. And he began to shuffle over to the telephone. Upon making his way toward the item, he began to rapidly press his fingers on the several buttons plastered on the item. He exhaled, his eyes beginning to water as he desperately pressed the phone to his ear.
He gasped, hearing it begin to ring. A few seconds passed—and finally, a tired voice spoke into the phone.
"..911—what's your emergency?"
"..he—hello? There's—there's a guy outside my house, and I think he's the one who.. who attacked me—and.."
"Woah, woah. Slow down. Hold on—there's—theres a guy outside your house? What does he look like?"
"He.. he's wearing a red devil mask, and—he has a sweater on. But—but he's gone now, so I'm not.. sure what to.."
"Sir, I need you stay calm. Just keep the doors locked, and don't let anyone in. If you see him again—make sure you have somewhere to hide. We'll be right over."
"Well, hurry! He's gonna.."
"..sir? Sir—are—are you there?"
..Kevin dropped the phone, and it fell to the floor with a slight thud.
In a dark corner of the room standing with a crescent moon grin was a looming shape—and familiar wide, dark-circle stained eyes peering back at him. It's head slightly tilted, and heavy breaths coming from its mouth.
Kevin took a step back—feeling his heart practically busting through the interiors of his neck as his body began to tremble. His eyes couldn't look away, his.. body felt stiff despite shaking so much. There was silence, other than the faint sound of the tired voice from the receiver of the phone speaking frantically.
He felt his eyes begin to water. And then, the man stepped closer. His body screamed at him to run. To flee for Christ's sake instead of just standing there like an idiot!
And so, spinning on his heel, he ran frantically out of the room.
————
He ran into the kitchen without thinking, hoping he could hide from him. Hoping that the man would lose track of him. He felt his heart beating loudly in his chest—thumping harshly in his ears as he practically whimpered while running.
But—no matter how far he ran, the man's eyes would always follow him. Kevin leaned his back against the counter with a terrified gasp, his brows raising as his mouth hung open. The man cocked his head to the side as he stepped inside, a breath that almost sounded like a laugh escaping his mouth.
"..hah.. aahah.."
Kevin shuddered. He began to grasp at the counter behind himself, wanting to reach for something. Anything. Just to get himself out of here, or to defend himself. Just to live. He didn't wanna die. Not like this. Not like this!
