Leighton's POV
—————

"Leighton! Wake up!" I hear a voice calling, but I'm too exhausted to identify who it is.

"I'm awake, I'm awake," I mumble sleepily, rubbing my eyes. As I open them, I see my entire group of friends gathered before me.

"About time," Ginny comments. I playfully slap her after rolling my eyes.

"What's new? Anything important?" I ask the group, pausing at the compartment door with my uniform in hand.

"Nothing new, except we learned you're a big sleep talker," Dawn mentions, causing chuckles from the group. "And a snorer!" Zenobia chimes in.

"Good one," I mutter, rolling my eyes as I head towards the bathroom to change.

I quickly switch into my Gryffindor robes, rolling up the skirt slightly.

While heading back to my compartment, I make a detour to visit Cleo.

"This must be her compartment," I mutter quietly. I push open the doors, interrupting a serious conversation between Cleo, her friends, and a mysterious boy.

"Shit, sorry guys!" I say hurriedly, as Enzo gives me a friendly smile. "No worries, Lei," Cleo reassures me, while Pansy waves me over.

"The fuck? Who's this Gryffindor bitch?" The mysterious boy comments. I scoff at him, rolling my eyes in response.

"That Gryffindor bitch is my sister, Riddle.'" Riddle brushes Cleo off as his gaze locks with mine, but I stand my ground, refusing to look away.

After what seems like an eternity, he finally looks away, scoffing at me. "And why exactly is she here?" he remarks.

"Am I not allowed to visit my friends? Oh, but I suppose you wouldn't understand, as you lack any yourself." I scoff, glaring daggers at Riddle.

Before he can protest, I storm out of the compartment, slamming the door.

"Merlin, what a dick," I mutter under my breath, fuming.

"Lei, who pissed in your butterbeer today?" Dawn jokes as I walk back into my compartment.

"This new guy. His name's Riddle," I respond, slumping down into the booth.

"Riddle?" Luna asks, glancing up from her magazine. "The heir of Riddle Enterprises?"

"I suppose. But it's irrelevant; he's a snob," I remark.

"And loaded!" Zenobia adds.

"You mean Riddle is loaded with an insufferable ego," I retort. "He strikes me as a pampered daddy's boy," Ginny remarks, prompting giggles from Dawn and Luna.

Before Zenobia can reply, I realize we've arrived at Hogwarts.

"Guys, we've arrived!" I exclaim, jumping up to the compartment door with excitement. Hogwarts holds a special place in my heart—it's where I truly feel at home.

As my friends and I walk to the carriages, I realize it's only four per person. "Great," I mutter to myself.

Suddenly, I snap out of my thoughts and notice that all four of my friends have boarded a carriage.

"I'm so sorry, Lei," Luna says, genuine remorse evident in her voice.

"It's okay, guys, really," I reassure the group. "Besides, I'll see you all at the sorting ceremony."

I glance behind me to see who will be joining me in the carriage. I spot Pansy, Draco, and unfortunately, Riddle.

Before Riddle can say anything, Pansy pushes past him and wraps me in a tight bear hug.

Pansy exclaims, releasing me at last. "How have you been, Lei?"

"I've had better days," I remark, catching Riddle's glare. "What a prick," I mutter quietly.

"Apologies, princess. I didn't quite catch that," Mattheo remarks, a smirk playing on his lips.

I ignore him and climb into the carriage, taking a seat beside Pansy.

————-

Once in the Great Hall, I leave the group and take a seat beside Dawn, Zenobia, and Ginny.

Across from us at the Ravenclaw table, Luna's seated next to Padma Patil, a seventh-year student.

"We all feel terrible for leaving you, Lei. We're truly sorry," Dawn says promptly, with nods of agreement from Ginny and Zenobia.

"Guys, it's alright. I sat next to Pansy; she's like family to me. It was nice to catch up with her," I add, lowering my voice as the sorting ceremony commences.

After what seemed like an eternity, the ceremony finally concluded. We gained 10 new Gryffindors, which was more than last year.

Luna approaches us, embracing everyone before she heads to Ravenclaw towers with Padma.

Once inside the Gryffindor common room, we head towards the girls' dormitory assignments, which are posted near the entrance.

"Merlin's Beard, all four of us are together!" Ginny squeals.

As soon as I enter the dormitory, I collapse onto my bed and drift off to sleep.

A/N:
Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed my story. I understand how I haven't been updating "Forget me, Nott." much, and i'm planning on rewriting that fic once I finish this one. My grammar is terrible in that one. Also i'm so so so sorry that this chapter was boring, it's kinda just a filler / introduction chapter. I need to build up the first day, I feel like it's always the most boring part to write and to read haha! But i'm not sure if anyone will be reading my work, if you are reading this thank you so so much and I appreciate you. Mwah!
